一、句子成分
构成句子的各个部分叫作句子成分。根据英语词汇在句子中的地位和作用,英语的句子成分主要有主语(S)、谓语(V)、宾语(O)、补足语(C)、状语(A)、表语(P)、定语(Attr.)。
1.主语(Subject):指句子所谈论的主体。主语可以由名词、代词、数词、不定式、动名词、主语从句和短语等来担任。
Your attitude towards my plan is very important.
你对我计划的态度非常重要。
To persuade her to change her mind is really very hard.
说服她改变主意确实很难。
Seeing is believing.眼见为实。
2.谓语(Verb):指谓语部分的主要动词,通常用来说明主语所做的动作或主语的特征和状态。谓语通常由动词或动词短语充当,位于主语之后。实义动词可以单独作谓语,情态动词和助动词需要和实义动词一起构成谓语。

二、句子结构
英语中最基本的句子结构有八种,其他各种句式都是由这八种基本句式演变而来。八种基本句式如下:
1.主语+谓语(SV) 在这个结构中,谓语动词是不及物动词,能表达完整的意思,后面不接宾语。
门开了。
红日正在升起。
2.主语+谓语+宾语(SVO) 在这个结构中,谓语动词是及物动词,后面必须接宾语。
我的父亲教英语。
他拒绝帮助他们。
我们都知道地球围绕太阳转。
3.主语+系动词+表语(SVP) 在这个结构中,谓语动词必须是连系动词。
一些女孩非常兴奋。
这朵花闻起来很香。
我父亲的希望是我能经常回家。

英语中的系动词有be动词、感官动词(look,smell,taste,feel,sound等)、表变化类动词(如get,become,turn,go,grow,come等)、表保持类动词(如keep,stay,remain等)。
4.主语+谓语+间接宾语+直接宾语(SVOO)
在这个结构中,谓语动词是及物动词,后接双宾语,间接宾语在前,直接宾语在后。当把直接宾语放到间接宾语之前时,间接宾语前应加适当的介词。
