Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use target vocabulary to ask and answer questions about the location of objects, participate in role plays using the target language, and creatively adapt the given chant with new sentences.
Step 1: Warm-up
Chant Practice: "Where Is My Book "
Teacher: Let's start with our fun chant. Listen to me first, then we'll say it together.
Teacher chants: "Where is it Where is it Where is my book Is it on the desk Is it on the desk "
Students join in and chant along.
Step 2: Lead-in
Guess the Hidden Item Game:
Teacher: I have a secret! I hid something in the classroom. Close your eyes and try to guess where it is by asking questions.
Teacher hides an item and students take turns guessing its location using sentences like "Is it on the desk " or "Is it in the bag "
Step 3: Presentation
Listening and Discussing: Finding Keys:
Teacher: Let’s help John and his mother find their keys. Listen carefully to the dialogue and find where their keys are.
Students listen to the dialogue and discuss in pairs where the keys are located.
Understanding Dialogue Vocabulary:
Teacher: Let's understand the dialogue better. Look at these pictures. Is this a table or a desk What's near the phone What about in the door
Teacher points to pictures and asks questions to elicit key vocabulary.
Step 4: Practice
Dialogue Reading and Role Play:
Teacher: Now, read the dialogue with the tape. Practice reading it loudly and clearly.
Students read the dialogue with the recording to work on pronunciation and intonation.
Role Play and Questioning:
Teacher: Pair up and practice the dialogue. One student can be John, and the other can be John's mother. Ask and answer using the dialogue.
Students pair up, role play the dialogue, and practice asking and answering questions.
Picture Descriptions and Questioning:
Teacher: Look at the picture. Describe where the notebooks are using the target sentences. Ask and answer questions with your partner.
Students take turns describing pictures and asking questions about object locations.
Guessing Game - What Is It :
Teacher: Listen carefully. I'll describe where something is, and you have to guess what it is. For example, "They are near the phone." What are they
Students listen to descriptions and guess the objects hidden in the classroom.
Activity: Ask, Answer, and Write:
Teacher: Write letters "k," "b," "p," and "g" in circles on the board. Ask your partner to guess where you wrote them.
Students take turns writing and guessing the locations of the letters using questions like "Is it in the circle with the 'k' " or "Is it near the 'g' "
