Task 6 Writing a postcard
Task description
Pupils imagine that they are having a holiday on an island and they are writing a postcard to a friend about their holiday. In the postcard, they should write about the animals, places and trips on the island by comparing them.

Task steps
Read the rubrics and the example carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task.
Part A
Tell pupils to look at the map in Part A.
Part B
Then they look at the pictures of the animals and birds they see, the places they visit and the trips they go on CC Island on Copymasters 1 to 4. They write describing words on Copymaster 5 about the pictures. Remind pupils to choose three out of the five places on Copymaster 3.
Provide less able pupils with the necessary vocabulary.
Part C
Pupils get into pairs. They tell their partner about their holiday.
Part D
Tell pupils to write a postcard on Copymaster 6 telling a friend about the animals and birds they see, the places they visit or the trips they go on CC Island. Tell them to look at page 47 of the Pupil’s Book for reference.
More able pupils could read their postcard aloud.
