Task 2 Asking for directions
Task description
Pupils should imagine that they have a free day during their study tour. Pupil A is given a map. Pupil B is given information about the opening days and times of places to visit. After they agree on a place to visit, Pupil B asks Pupils A for directions.

Task steps
Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the cues at each step of the task.
Part A
Pupils get into pairs. Give Pupil A Cue Card A and Copymaster 1. Give Pupil B Cue Card B and Copymaster 2.
Tell pupils to choose a tourist attraction to go to together which is open on Saturdays. Point out to pupils that they need to refer to the box at the top of the Copymasters.
Tell them to write down on the Cue cards the tourist attraction they have decided to go to.
Part B
Pupil B asks Pupil A for directions to the tourist attraction they have chosen. Pupil A looks at the map and gives Pupil B directions. Pupil B draws the route on his / her map and checks it with Pupil A.
More able pupils could choose another place to visit on another day.
