Unit: Facing changes
Task 1 What are you going to do
Task description
Pupils work in pairs and choose a situation card. They discuss their ideas about the situation and write their ideas on the card. Then two or more pairs form a group to vote for the most interesting idea for each situation.

ESc to give expression to imaginative ideas through oral, written and performative means such as providing simple oral and written descriptions of a situation

Writing Plan and organise information, and express own ideas and feelings by deciding on the sequence of content

Communication skills Find out, interpret, organise and present simple information with others on a wider range of familiar topics including family and friends Express opinions and converse about preferences, ideas and plans

Task steps
Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task.
Part A
Pupils get into pairs and each of them chooses a card. After reading the situation, pupils discuss their ideas about what they are going to do. Then they write their ideas on the cards.
Part B
Tell two or more pairs to form a group. Pupils read out their ideas and the group chooses the most interesting idea for each situation.
Part C
Pupils read out the most interesting ideas for the class to appreciate.
More able pupils could think of some other situations and write their ideas accordingly.
Work in pairs. Each of you chooses a card. Discuss what you are going to do with your partner. Write your ideas on the card.
