Task 1 On Open Day
Task description
Pupils get into pairs and role-play a student guide and a visitor on a school Open Day.

Task steps
Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task.
Pupils get into pairs. Pupil A acts as a visitor to a school on its Open Day. He/She looks at the lists of things on Copymaster 1 to see what he/she wants to do at the school.
Pupil B acts as a student guide. He/She looks at the floor plan on Copymaster 2.
By referring to their Cue cards, the visitor asks for, and the student guide gives directions to the places in the school.
More able pupils could role-play a lost child and the student guide asking for and giving directions respectively.
