Unit 3 Language in use
【教学目标】
语言知识目标:
1. 掌握并熟练运用本模块核心单词和重点词组。
2. 掌握and, but, or连接的并列复合句。
语言技能目标:
1. 正确使用and, but, or表达自己的观点。
2. 能谈论自己的计划与将来的活动,并能询问他人的计划与活动。

1. 通过谈论旅行计划,引导学生养成做事有计划、生活有条理的习惯。
2. 通过了解暑期英语课程,培养学生学习英语的热情和勇于克服困难的意志。
【教学重难点】
重点:1. 学习和复习本模块一些常用的短语。
2. 能区别并会运用and, but, or连接的并列复合句。
难点:在实际生活中准确表达自己的计划与活动,并能询问他人的计划与活动。
【教学方法】
本节课采用创设情境法、任务型教学法、小组合作法等教学方法。
【教学过程】
Step 1 Leading in
Free talk.
Summer holiday is coming. Where are you going
Make sentences with “but, and, or” one by one about travelling in groups.
e.g. I would like to go to Australia and I can see the kangaroos.
Step 2 Pre-task
Activity 1 Language practice.
When are you leaving and how long are you going to stay there
It sounds crazy, but I don’t know what to take.
Shorts are good, or you can wear light trousers.
Activity 2 Grammar.
并列复合句
并列复合句是指由并列连词and, but, or等把两个或两个以上的简单句连在一起而构成的句子。
1. 基本结构:
简单句 + 并列连词 + 简单句。
2. 常见的并列复合句:
(1) 并列关系
They are watching TV, and the others are listening to the radio.
(2) 选择关系
The children can go with us, or they can stay at home.
(3) 转折关系
She was tired, but she did not stop working.
注意:(1) 并列连词后面的简单句如果与前面的简单句有相同的部分,则相同的部分常可省略。
Snoopy lives in his own world and (Snoopy) finds real life hard to understand.
(2) or 用于连接分句,还可表示“不然;否则”。
Go at once, or you’ll miss the train.
Step 3 While-task
Activity 1 Join the two parts of the sentences with and, but or or.
1. I would like to go to England …2. You should wear a raincoat ...3. You can go by plane ...4. I did not bring my sunglasses …5. I have bought my ticket ...6. You can take two bags ... a) ... I have got my passport.b) ... practise my English.c) ... I can buy a new pair.d) ... they must not weigh too much.e) ... you can carry an umbrella.f) ... you can take the train.
Work in pairs and say the sentences.
Activity 2 Complete the passage with and, but and or.
There are many English language courses all over the world. You can go to the UK (1)______ take lessons at a language school. There are usually classes in the morning, (2)______ in the afternoon you can go sightseeing. You can stay in a cheap hotel, (3) _____ you can stay with a family. With a family, you get a lot more speaking and listening practice. (4)______ you may not be so close to the school or the city centre.
Activity 3 Work in pairs.
Student A: Say a sentence about travel.
New York is a long way from Beijing.
Student B: Add to Student A’s sentence with another sentence beginning with but.
But London is closer.
Student A: Add to Student B’s sentence with another sentence beginning with but.
But the weather isn’t as good as that in New York.
Continue to add sentences.
Activity 4 Now complete the sentences with the words or expression in the box.

Now write two good things and two bad things about taking summer courses.
Activity 3 Discussion.
Take part in your class discussion.
Think about what you want to say and how you want to say it.
Speak loudly and clearly so everyone can understand what you say.
Listen politely to what the other students say and ask questions.
Then work in pairs and write sentences describing the conclusions of the class discussion. Say if you agree or disagree with the conclusions.
