Teaching contents
To know the important parts of a poster;

To introduce their clubs using poster.
Student analysis
Most students are at the moderate level in English learning, while there are nearly 10 students with weak English foundation in Class One, Grade Seven. But the students in this class are generally active, especially group work, and dare to perform in class.
Teaching aims
Knowledge aims:
Students can master the key phrases like “look up, listen to a talk, learn a lot about...”;
Students can introduce their clubs from important parts and plan the layout of a poster.
Ability aims:
Students can imitate the sample to describe their clubs, using simple past tense;
Students can cooperate with group members to make a poster.
Emotion aims:
Students will be interested in club activities and take an active part in them;
Students will realize the importance of cooperation.

Lead-in (1)Have a situation simulation; (2)Watch a video (3mins) Help Ss have fun in the scene setting and know how to attract new members into a club. Teacher creates the situation, making the clubs compete to attract new members, and lead Ss to know the important step --making an attractive poster. Ss finish the matching task on how to attract new members and cooperate with club members to answer questions.
Pre-writing Teach the concept of a poster; [1min] Find the important parts of a poster; [2mins] Complete the sample poster; [3mins] Answer relevant questions;[3mins] Brainstorm [3mins] (12mins) Help build scaffolding before writing, including inputting the relative phrases, key sentence, formats as well as the content and structure. Teacher teaches Ss what the poster is with multiple choice questions; Teacher gives Ss 1min to find out the important parts of a poster; Teacher gives Ss 3 mins to complete the sample poster; Teacher gives Ss 3mins to answer the relevant questions; Teacher makes Ss discuss with deskmates on what we can do in Photography Club. Ss make choices; Ss find out answers in textbook; Ss take a train to answer the questions; Ss finish some questions in the handout; Ss discuss with deskmates to fill in the blanks based on the pictures.
While-writing Group Work: Make a club poster (6mins) Make Ss apply the outlining skill to make their club poster and improve their teamwork spirits. Teacher provides help for Ss when necessary. Ss cooperate with their club members to make their club posters, including dividing work, then finishing different parts of the poster.
Post-writing Present and vote Evaluate (15mins) Make Ss practice introducing their clubs and know the standard of a good poster as well as avoiding making the same mistakes as peers’ writings. (1)Teacher invites groups to introduce their clubs and guide others to vote for the more attractive one. (2)Teacher leads Ss to evaluate Ss’ poster according to the standard of evaluation. (1)Ss vote for the more attractive club; (2)Ss find out the mistakes of peers’ poster and finish the evaluation form.
Summary Picture talk (1min) Encourage Ss to take an active part in extra-curricular activities. Teacher inspires Ss to participate in after-school activities actively based on the Double Reduction Policy. Ss listen to teacher’s summary and interact with teachers.
Homework (1min) (1)Revise and polish the poster; (2)Finish the writing part in the newspaper
