Task 2 Writing an e-mail to a pen friend
Task description
Pupils choose a pen friend. They write an e-mail to their pen friend telling him/her what they like doing in their spare time and what they want to be when they grow up.
Learning target(s)

ISc to exchange messages through activities such as writing e-mails
KSa to provide or find out, organise and present information on familiar topics

Task steps
Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task.
Part A
Pupils read the profiles on Copymaster 1 and choose a pen friend.
Part B
Then they complete the notes on Copymaster 2 about what they like doing in their spare time and what they want to be when they grow up.
Part C
Finally, they write an e-mail on Copymaster 3 to the pen friend they have chosen. Using the notes they have completed, pupils write to their pen friend telling him/her what they like doing in their spare time and what they want to be when they grow up.
More able pupils could find a pen friend on the Net and write an e-mail to him/her.
Read the profiles and choose a pen friend.
Make notes about what you like doing in your spare time and what you want to be when you grow up.
