Task 3 Calling a sick friend
Task description
Pupils role-play calling a sick friend. Then they write a get-well card and give it to their friend.
Learning target(s)

ISc to exchange messages through activities such as writing get-well cards

Task steps
Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task. Revise the text type ‘get-well cards’ on page 24 of the Pupil’s Book with pupils.
Part A
In pairs, pupils take turns to role-play calling a sick friend.
Part B
They each write a get-well card to the sick friend. The get-well card is on the Copymaster. Ask pupils to draw a cover for the card.
Part C
Then they role-play giving the get-well card to the friend.
More able pupils could make and write a Thank You card.
