Task 4 A day trip with an overseas student
Task description
Pupils refer to the plan they made in Task 3 (Chapter 3). They make a list of the things they plan to do with the overseas student at each of the tourist spots. They then tell the overseas student about their plan.

Task steps
Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task.
Part A
Pupils look at the itinerary they wrote and the information they collected in Task 3 again.
On the task sheet, pupils write down the things they plan to do with Donald and the times to do these things at the places they will visit.
More able pupils could get in pairs now and check whether each other’s itinerary makes sense considering the travelling time and distance. They amend their itinerary according to each other’s suggestions.
Part B
Pupils get into pairs. They take turns to role-play their conversation with Donald. The pupil playing Donald asks questions about the itinerary while the pupil playing the host answers them.
More able pupils could perform their role-play in front of the whole class.
