Task 4 How do you help at home
Task description
Pupils make notes about how they and their brothers and sisters help at home. In groups, they tell the group leader how they and their brothers and sisters help at home. The group leader gives out small pictures for them to make two pictograms, one for boys and one for girls. They then summarise the results in a table for the group leader to report to the class.

Task steps
Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task.
Part A
Pupils make notes on the task sheet about how they and their brothers and sisters help at home.
Part B
Pupils get into groups. They tell their group leader how they and their brothers and sisters help at home.
Teach pupils to say ‘I don’t have any brothers or sisters.’ if they are the only child at home.
Part C
Give each group a copy of the Copymaster. The group leader gives out the small pictures to the group members according to what housework they do.
In groups, pupils make two pictograms, one for boys and one for girls.
More able pupils could make one pictogram which shows the number of both boys and girls.
Part D
Pupils write down the results in the table on the task sheet.
Then the group leader reports the results of his/her group to the class.
