Task 1 Making a name card
Task description
In pairs, pupils greet and introduce themselves to each other. Then each pupil makes a name card for his / her partner.

ISc to exchange short simple messages through activities such as writing greeting cards and notes
KSa to provide or find out and present simple information on familiar topics

Speaking Open an interaction by using simple formulaic expressions to greet someone politely and introducing oneself briefly Maintain an interaction by asking for spelling, using single words and formulaic expressions to ask questions and reply and providing information in response to factual or yes/no questions

Task steps
Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task.
Part A
Pupils get into pairs. Each pair greet each other and ask for each other’s name and its spelling.
Part B
Each pupil makes a name card for his / her partner.
More able pupils could get in groups and make a name card for every group member.
