Task 1 A poem about my pet puppet
Task description
Each pupil makes a pet puppet and tells his/her partner about it. Then each pupil writes a poem about his/her pet puppet.

Task steps
Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task.
Part A
Pupils draw a pet they like on a piece of paper and colour it. They can use food containers, cartons, tins, etc. to make a pet if they like.
They cut out the picture and make a pet puppet.
Part B
Pupils get into pairs. One pupil asks his/her partner what their pet puppet is. The other pupil answers the question and describes the colour of his/her pet puppet.
More able pupils could talk about the eyes, nose, mouth, ears and legs of their pet puppet, e.g. It has short legs. It has a small nose.
Part C
Using the poem on page 6 of the Pupil’s Book as a model, pupils write a poem about their pet puppet on the task sheet.
