1. 动词不定式可以用来补充说明宾语的情况，作宾语补足语。

常带不定式作宾补的动词：
ask, allow,
tell, want
+ sb. to do sth.
否定式：not to do
The teacher tells me not to clean the blackboard.
I want you not to give me some help.
例外：help + sb. (to) do sth.
make, let + do sth.

注意：
以上动词接不定式作宾语补足语时，若要表达否定的意思，要在to do前加not, 构成not to do的形式。例如：
Mr Han told us not to make too much noise.
韩先生告诉我们不要弄出太大声音。
Jackie told me not to touch anything!
杰基告诉我不要碰任何东西。
例外：
1. help后面的动词不定式可带to，也可不带to。
She often helps me (to) do the housework.
她常常帮我做家务。
We helped him (to) fix his bike.
我们帮他修自行车。
2. make, let 只能跟动词原形（do），不带to。
His words always make me laugh.

2. 动词不定式表示目的。(做某事是为了什么)

也可以说：
To improve his basketball skills, Dylan trained hard.
动词不定式作目的状语时，既可以放在句首，也可以放在句尾。
in order to do …可加强语气或使目的意义更加清楚。
