形容词和副词的最高级
一、形容词和副词的最高级的构成
构成方法 例词
规则 变化 单音节词和部分双音节词 一般在词尾加－est small→smallest，cool→coolest
以不发音e结尾的单音节词，在词尾加－st large→largest，nice→nicest
以“辅音字母＋y”结尾的双音节词，先把“y”改为“i”，再加－est heavy→heaviest， happy→happiest
重读闭音节词且词尾只有一个辅音字母时，先双写该辅音字母，再加－est hot→hottest， fat→fattest
多音节词和部分双音节词 在词前加most important→most important， outgoing→most outgoing
不规则 变化 good/well→best, bad/ill→worst, many/much→most, little→least, far→farthest/furthest， old→oldest/eldest
二、形容词和副词的最高级的用法
三者或三者以上的人或事物进行比较时，用最高级。形容词的最高级前要加定冠词the，副词的最高级前的the可以省略。在含有最高级的句子中，常用in/of/among短语来表示比较范围。其常见的句型有：
1．“one of the/形容词性物主代词＋形容词的最高级＋可数名词复数”意为“最……之一”。如：
He is one of the most famous writers in China．他是中国最著名的作家之一。
2．“the ＋序数词＋最高级”意为“第几最……”。如：
The Yellow River is the second longest river in China．黄河是中国第二长河。

Which city is the biggest, Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou 哪一座城市最大，北京、上海还是广州？
★比较级形式表达最高级含义的句型：
1．“否定词……＋形容词/副词的比较级”。如：
—What do you think of the plan 你觉得这个计划怎么样？
—It can't be better．再好不过了。
2．“比较级＋ than ＋ the other ＋可数名词复数。”如：
Lucy is thinner than the other girls in our class．露西比我们班其他女孩都瘦。
3．“比较级＋ than ＋ any other ＋单数名词”。如：
Tom is higher than any other boy in our class． 汤姆比我们班里的任何其他男孩都高。
