① ask for 请求（给予）

2. Watching films and listening to songs are great ways to learn English!
动名词（短语）作主语：单个动名词（短语）作主语时，谓语动词用单数；两个或两个以上的动名词（短语）作主语时，谓语动词通常用复数形式。
e.g. Getting up early is a good habit.
Swimming and playing table tennis are my favourite sports.

something是复合不定代词，其用法为：something，anything，nothing，somebody，nobody等复合不定代词被形容词、动词不定式修饰时，形容词或动词不定式要放在复合不定代词之后，作后置定语。

4. I also advise you to talk about films or songs with your friends.
advise [v.] 向……提出建议；忠告；建议
① advise (doing) sth. 建议（做）某事
e.g. My father advised taking a walk after dinner.
② advise sb. (not) to do sth. 建议某人（不要）做某事
e.g. Our teacher advises us not to go out at night.
5. I am shy and I am afraid to speak to her.
① shy 【adj.】羞怯的；腼腆的
e.g. She is a shy girl. Don’t be shy, just try.
② be afraid to do sth. 害怕做某事
e.g. She is afraid to go out alone at night.
拓展：be afraid of sth. 害怕某物 be afraid of doing sth. 害怕做某事
e.g. She is afraid of snakes. e.g. She is afraid of going out alone at night.
6. It is natural to forget new words.
It is+形容词+to do sth. 做某事是……的
e.g. It is important to learn English well.
It is+形容词+ sb. to do sth. 对某人来说做某事是……的
e.g. It is necessary for us to keep healthy.
It is kind of you to help me when I meet some difficulties.
7. I suggest you write four or five words a day on pieces of paper and place them in your room.
suggest [v.] 建议；提议
① suggest sth. 建议某事 e.g. I suggest a trip to Shanghai.
② suggest doing sth.建议做某事 e.g. My father suggests talking a walk after dinner.
③ suggest+that从句（从句应该用虚拟语气，即谓语动词用“should+动词原形，should可以省略）
e.g. I suggest (that) we (should) do some sports to keep healthy.
