过去进行时(the Past Continuous Tense):
谓语构成:was/were + V+ing
意义:动词的过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或某一时间内正在进行或发生的动作。
时间状语::at this/that time yesterday, at 9 pm last night, from … to … yesterday morning, the whole evening, all day yesterday, when I came in (when引导的一般过去时态的句子)等。
⑴ 肯定句:主语+was/were+动词-ing形式。
I was reading at this time yesterday.
⑵ 否定句:主语+was/were+not+动词-ing形式。
I wasn’t reading at this time yesterday.
⑶ 疑问句①一般疑问句:Was/Were+主语+动词-ing形式
Were you reading at this time yesterday
肯定回答:Yes, 主语+was/were. 如:Yes, I was.
否定回答:No, 主语+ wasn’t/weren’t. 如:No, I wasn’t.
②特殊疑问句:疑问词+was/were+主语+动词-ing形式
What were you doing at this time yesterday
What was he researching all day last Sunday
一般过去时和过去进行时的区别:
相同点:两者都表示过去发生的动作。
不同点:一般过去时表示过去的时间里发生的动作,往往已经完成;过去进行时表示过去某一时刻或时段正在进行的动作。
一般过去时的时间状语主要有:
yesterday (morning, afternoon, evening), last night (week, month, year), ago, the day before yesterday, in 2003, just now, long long ago, one day等。
过去进行时与现在进行时的区别:
时态 现在进行时 过去进行时
结构 is/are/am+动词-ing was/were +动词-ing
用法 表示说话时正在进行或发生的动作 表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行的动作
时间状语 at the moment, now ... at nine yesterday,at that time, during …
