一般过去时，是表示过去某一时刻或某一段时间内发生的动作或存在的状态。

如何判定一般过去时
一、通过句子中是否有表示过去的时间状语来判定。
(1). 介词+表示过去时间的年、月、日，
如 in 1998
(2). yesterday 以及由yesterday 构成的短语：yesterday morning…, the day before yesterday…
(3).带有ago的短语: 如two days ago; five years ago…
(4).Last 构成的短语，如last month, last night…
(5).表示过去的词或短语，如once, at that time, just now…
找出表示一般过去时的时间状语。

2.动词过去式是怎样构成的呢？
动词过去式的构成
a. 一般在动词原形后直接加-ed。如look—looked。
b. 以不发音的字母-e结尾的动词，直接加-d.如live—lived。
c. 末尾只有一个辅音字母的重读闭音节，先双写辅音字母，再加-ed。如stop—stopped。
d. 末尾是辅音字母+-y 结尾的动词，先变-y为-i, 再加-ed。如study— studied。
e. 动词的不规则变化。
