An ancient bus stopped by a dry river bed and a party of famous actors and actresses got off. Dressed in dark glasses and old clothes, they had taken special precautions so that no one should recognize them. But as they soon discovered, disguises can sometimes be too perfect.
'This is a wonderful place for a picnic,' said Gloria Gleam.
' It couldn't be better, Gloria,' Brinksley Meers agreed. 'No newspaper men, no film fans! Why don't we come more often '
Meanwhile, two other actors, Rockwall Slinger and Merlin Greeves, had carried two large food baskets to a shady spot under some trees. When they had all made themselves comfortable, a stranger appeared. He looked very angry.
'Now you gut out of here, all of you!' he shouted: ' I'm sheriff here. Do you see that notice It says" No Camping"-in case you can't read !'
' Look, sheriff, 'said Rockwall,' don't be too hard on us. I'm Rockwall Slinger and this is Merlin Greeves.'
' Oh, is it ' said the sheriff with a sneer. 'Well, I'm Brinksley Meers, and my other name is Gloria Gleam. Now you get out of here fast !'

1)注意；理会；察觉 .
Don’t take any notice of what you read in the papers.别在意你在报上看到的东西。

2)告示

★Sneer v. 嘲笑；讥讽
1.sneer at sb./sth.
He sneered at people who liked pop music.他嘲笑喜欢流行音乐的人

1）ancient 在这里表示“老式的”、“古旧的”，与old 意思相近， 但比old 有幽默感：
eg.Where did you find that ancient dress 你在哪里找到这件老掉牙的衣服？
the ancients（指古希腊及罗马的）古
2) stopped by 停在....地
3）river bed 指河床，名词 river 作形容词用，
flower bed （花坛）等
4）party 作量词用时表示“一行”、“一伙”、“一群”等，如a party of tourists/boys/schoolchildren（一群旅游者／男孩/小学生）等。

I am a teacher. teacher 不是官衔，加不定冠词
2.in case +从句 假使，万一……的话，免得，以防万一（常用于引导条件或目的状语从句，当句子表示将来的时间时，in case后面必须用现在时态或should/might）
in case you can't read 除非你们不识字。
I’m taking a raincoat with me in case I need it.
In case he comes/should come, give him this letter.
★When they had all made themselves comfortable
许多动词都可以与宾语+宾语补足语连用，drive, get, find, keep, leave, like, make, open, paint, prefer, pull, want, wipe 等：
Aeroplanes are slowly driving me mad.
飞机正在逐渐把我逼疯。
He found the test difficult.
他发现考试不容易。
Part 4: Grammar&Difficult points
一.as引导定语从句
1.As 引导限制性定语从句
the same....as、as...as、such...as、so..as
eg.It's the same person as we wanted to find yesterday.
2.as 引导非限制性定语从句
as指代整个主句内容、有“正如，好像”意思
eg.As everyone knows,China is a beautiful country with a long history
二.否定词+比较级=最高级
1.I can't agree with you more.
not....more=most
2.We can't have a worse day.
not....worse=worst
三.in case 表示“假使”、“万一......的话”、“免得”、“以防万一”“除非”。 它通常用于引导条件或目的状语从句。当句子表示将来的时间时，in case 后面必须用现在时态should/might:
eg. I'm taking a raincoat with me in case I need it
我随身带着雨衣，以备不时之需。（表示目的）
eg. In case he comes/should come, give him this letter.
假如／万一他来的话，把这封信给他(表示条件）
