Step 1 New words and expression.
(1)the Statue of Liberty
This is the Statue of Liberty in America.
(2)French
People speak English and French in Canada.
(3)leaves
The leaves on the tree are green. 树上的叶子是绿色的。
(4)the eagle
The eagle is the national animal of the U.S.
(5)Niagara Falls
This is Niagara Falls. It is a waterfall and it’s famous all over the world.
(6)beaver
The beaver is very famous in Canada.
通过单词游戏,引出要学习的新知,引起学生的兴趣,然后利用学生的迁移能力,引导学生自读单词,培养学生的思维能力。

1. What do you know about Canada
This country is Canada. My friends Jenny and Danny live in Canada. People speak English and French in Canada. It is east of China. The capital is Ottawa.
Canada’s flag is red and white. It has a red leaf on it!
This is a beaver. It is Canada’s national animal.
This is Niagara Falls. It is a waterfall and it’s famous all over the world.
2. How much do you know about the U. S.
Here is a map of the United States. It is south of Canada. In the U.S., people speak English. The capital city of the U.S. is Washington, D.C.
The flag of the U.S. has stars and stripes on it. It is red, white and blue.
This is an eagle. The eagle is the national animal of the U.S.
This is the Statue of Liberty. It’s in New York. It’s a famous statue.
通过听录音,跟读录音,分角色朗读,集中学生注意力,提高听读的效果,巩固所学的知识。
Language points:
1. French /frent /
不可数名词,翻译为“法语”。French还可作为形容词,翻译为“法国的,
法国人的”。
e.g. These French visitors all like Chinese food.
这些法国游客都喜欢中国食物。
2. leaf /li f/ n. 树叶,叶子 可数名词,其复数形式为leaves。
e.g. The leaves on the tree are green. 树上的叶子是绿色的。
英语中有些以“f/fe”结尾的可数名词变复数时要变“f/fe”为“v”再加“es”。
e.g. knife→knives刀子
3. How much do you know about the U.S. 关于美国你知道多少
知道的内容是不可数名词,因此用how much提问。知道很多……用know a lot about …或know much about …。
4. Here is a map of the United States. 这是一张美国地图。
the United States意为“美国”,前面必须加定冠词the,常缩写为the U.S.;另外America, the U.S.A., USA, US也表示美国。
Here be …这是……和There be …那是……这两个句型中的be都由后面名词的单复数决定,若其后加两个名词,由离be近的名词的单复数决定be的单复数,即“就近原则”。
e.g. Here is a bottle of juice. 这是一瓶橘汁。
There are four apples on the plate.
盘子上有四个苹果。
There is a cat and four flowers in the room.
房间里有一只猫和四朵花。
There are four flowers and a cat in the room.
房间里有四朵花和一只猫。
Step 3 Let’s Do It!
1. Read the lesson and complete the chart.
