(1) Australia 澳大利亚
Australia is the hometown of kangaroos.
澳大利亚是袋鼠的故乡。

They are so excited.

We are going to the beach on holidays.
(5) yours pron. 你的; 你们的
名词性物主代词 = 形容词性物主代词 + 名词
例如:His bag is the same with yours.
他的书包和你的一样。
注:yours = your bag
通过单词游戏,引出要学习的新知,引起学生的兴趣,然后利用学生的迁移能力,引导学生自读单词,培养学生的思维能力。

Dear Wang Mei,
It’s December 23 and Christmas is coming! I am so excited. Christmas is so fun, but it is very cold now. The weather in Canada is cold and snowy in November, December, January and February. We have long winters. June, July and August are summer months in Canada.
I don’t like cold weather very much. I like summer. I like to go swimming in summer. I also like to go to the beach.
Do you see the girl in the picture She is my friend Anne. She is from Australia. December, January and February are summer months in Australia. I hope to go to Australia and see Anne next Christmas.
How’s the weather in China Do you have any plans for your holidays Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Language points:
1. be+v. ing为现在进行时,但此处be+coming表将来概念。
动词 go, come, leave, arrive等的现在进行时表示将要发生的动作。
e.g. We are leaving for Beijing.
我们就要去北京了。
2. excited / k’sa t d/ adj. 兴奋的,高兴的。该词常用来修饰人。
e.g. The boys are so excited. 男孩们是如此兴奋。
辨析exciting, excited及excite
excited “兴奋的”,表示“因……而兴奋”的含义。常作定语或表语,作表语时主语通常是人。
exciting “使人兴奋的”,常作定语或表语。作表语时主语通常是物。
excite 动词,意为“使兴奋、激动”。
3. Do you see the girl in the picture
你看到照片中的女孩了吗
此句为一般疑问句,其中“in the picture”是介词短语作后置定语,修饰“the girl”,意思为“照片中的女孩”。
e.g. The boy in red shorts is my brother.
穿红色短裤的男孩是我哥哥。
4. I don’t like cold weather very much.
like … very much意为“非常喜欢……”。not like … very much意为“不太喜欢……”。
I like fruit very much. 我非常喜欢水果。
My brother doesn’t like vegetables very much. 我弟弟不太喜欢蔬菜。
【拓展】(1) very much的同义短语是a lot。
He likes sports very much/a lot.
他非常喜欢运动。
(2) not … at all意为“一点也不”。
Bob doesn’t like bananas at all.
鲍勃一点也不喜欢香蕉。
5. I hope to go to Australia and see Anne next Christmas.
hope to do意为“希望做某事”。
Tom hopes to go there by plane.
汤姆希望乘飞机去那里。
【拓展】hope后还可以接宾语从句。
I hope I can get a new bike.
我希望我能得到一辆新自行车。
