What’s the date
It’s January 17. On this day, we have a class party.
On March 24, we have Sports Day at our school.
We have a basketball game against Class 6 on April 12.
Yi Han’s birthday is on June 15.

Li Ming: Today is December 19.
Ms. Liu: That’s right. What month comes after December
Wang Mei: January! January is the first month of a new year. On Tuesday, January 17, we will have a class party.
Ms. Liu: Yes, Wang Mei. Let’s look at our class calendar for next year. What dates can we mark on our calendar
Jack: We can mark our school’s Sports Day. It’s on March 24.
Li Ming: In April, we have our second basketball game against Class 6.
Yang Hao: Yi Han’s birthday is in June. It’s on June 15.
通过听录音,跟读录音,分角色朗读,集中学生注意力,提高听读的效果,巩固所学的知识。
Language points:
1. What’s the date 是询问日期的常用交际用语。
回答可以用“It’s …”,也可以用today来代替it。
e.g. —What’s the date today 今天是几号
—It’s March 3. 今天是三月三号。
2. 表示日期常用序数词,即说明某一天在月份中的顺序。在英文中表示年、月、日有两种表示方法。
(1)月、日、年
e.g. 2014年4月20日可以写成April 20, 2014。
(2)日、月、年
e.g. 2014年4月20日可以写成20 April, 2014。

date ①指“日期”和“几月几日” ②也可表示重要的日子 —What’s the date today —It’s January 2. ——今天几号 ——今天是1月2日。
day ①指“星期几” ②可指24小时的一整天,也可单指白天,与night相对 —What day is it today —It’s Tuesday. ——今天星期几 ——今天星期二。
4. have a basketball game against … 和……进行一场篮球比赛
against 词义 字句
①和,强调困难中的反抗 Our team has a basketball game against the one from No. 2 Middle School every year. 每年我们队都和来自第二中学的一支球队进行一场篮球比赛。
against ②反对,违背 That’s against the law. 那是违法的。
③倚着,靠着 Stand against the wall. 靠着墙站立。
5. first /f st/ num.&det. 第一(的)
second /’sek nd/ num.&det.&adv. 第二(的)
这两个词都为序数词。英语中用来表示顺序的词叫序数词。
序数词前常用定冠词“the”或形容词性物主代词。
e.g. The first day of January is New Year’s Day.
一月份的第一天是元旦。
This is my first book from Tom.
这是我的第一本来自汤姆的书。

3. Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the given words.
4. Work in groups. Mark your class calendar for the coming months. Then talk about it.

本课时的教学内容是冀教版七年级上册英语第七单元的第三课时, 重点在于引导学生谈论日期, 从“班级日历”开始, 自然地导入谈论班级活动的话题。以描述班级即将举行的活动作为任务引起学生的兴趣, 训练学生的听力和口语表达能力。利用动作、手势和图片学习英语单词, 同时反复运用新学的单词和短语。因此, 教师可以将知识目标定为掌握本课时新出现的词和短语, 表示描述月份和序数词的用法的句型。
