Step 1 New words and expression.
(1) waitress [’we tr s] n. 女服务员
A waitress is a woman who works in a restaurant, serving people with food and drink.
(2) order
Are you ready to order
(3) menu [’menju:] n. 菜单
The menu is a list of the food and drinks that are available.
(4) fourteen [f (r) ’ti n] num. 十四
eleven [ ’lev n] num. 十一
beef [bi:f] n. 牛肉[U]
dumpling [’d mpl ] n. 饺子
1. —How many dumplings have you eaten
—Fourteen. I want eleven more.

课堂导入:
Do you know how to make an order in the restaurant
(呈现教课书图片。)听录音,学习第一部分内容。
文本内容:
It’s lunch time. Li Ming and Jack are hungry. They go to a restaurant.
Waitress: Are you ready to order
Li Ming: Yes, please. How much are the noodles
Waitress: Fourteen yuan for beef or chicken noodles. Eleven yuan for tomato and egg noodles.
Li Ming: OK. I’ll have the chicken noodles. What would you like, Jack
Jack: Hmm ...
Waitress: We also have dumplings and rice. Rice with fish or chicken is twelve yuan.
Jack: How much for the dumplings
Waitress: Fifteen yuan for dumplings with meat and cabbage, and thirteen yuan for dumplings with carrot and egg.
Jack: Carrot and egg dumplings I’ll try that, please.
Waitress: OK. Would you like something to drink
Li Ming: Yes, please. I would like some water. What would you like, Jack
Jack: Some apple juice, please.
Waitress: No problem.
通过听录音,跟读录音,分角色朗读,集中学生注意力,提高听读的效果,巩固所学的知识。
Language points:
1) Are you ready to order
你们准备好点菜了吗
此句经常用于餐馆里,是服务员询问客人是否点餐的常用语。
考查答语。
此句为be开头的一般疑问句,在实际交际中常用“Yes, please.”来回答。因为它比常规性肯定回答更礼貌,please体现出对他人的尊重。

3) How much for the dumplings 饺子多少钱
这是询问“价格”时使用的交际用语。
本句完整的句子结构是“How much is it for the dumplings ”。在口语交流中常省略为 “How much for the dumplings ”
how much意为“多少钱 ” 。
for为介词,在句中表交换, 意“以……的金额, 对于……”。

4) order作动词,意思为“订购;点(菜);命令”,通常用于order sth.(订购/点某物)或order sb. to do sth. (命令某人做某事)结构中。
e.g. He wants to order some flowers. 他想订些花。
order作名词时意思为“顺序;命令;订购;点(菜)”。
e.g. Put them in the right order. 把它们按正确的顺序排好。
5) Rice with fish or chicken is twelve yuan.
鱼肉盖饭或鸡肉盖饭12元。
此句主语是rice,是不可数名词,with fish or chicken是介词短语作后置定语,修饰rice,故谓语动词用单数形式。
6) a can of … 一听…… a glass of … 一玻璃杯…… a cup of …一杯……
a bottle of … 一瓶……
这些短语都可以用来表示不可数名词的量,为“数词+容器类名词或量词+of+不可数名词”结构。如果数词大于1,容器名词或量词要变为复数形式,而不可数名词不变。
