Lesson 15 Tall or Short
【教学目标】
(1)能够听、说、读、写单词:metre, bit, against, tail, upon, ground。
(2)掌握一些与介绍询问身高有关的重点词汇,学生运用所学句型介绍自己的身高。
(3)能够听、说、运用句型:① How tall is he / she How tall are you
② He is 1.6 metres tall.
③ She’s a bit short.
④ Is he 3.1 metres tall
⑤ Standing up against the wall.
(4)能够用正确的语音、语调朗读课文中的对话。能运用所学知识与他人问候交流,进行英语日常交际。
【教学重难点】
重点:能够听、说、读、写单词:metre, bit, against, tail, upon, ground
难点:灵活运用介绍他人的常用语以及如何询问别人姓名。

新课导入:
Free Talk
I am 1.65 metres tall.
How tall are you
I’m … metres tall.

通过对话,引入本课的学习内容。
新课讲授:
Step 1 New words and expression.
(1) tail [teil] 尾部;尾巴
The bird has a long tail.
(2) against [ ’ɡeinst] 倚着,靠着;反对,违反
The girl is sitting against the tree.
(3) bit [bit] 小量;少量
a bit + adj.
He is a bit tall.
(4) ground n. 地面
upon [ ’p n] 在……上面
upon the ground Is there anything on the ground
(5) flat adv. 水平地
The road is not flat.
(6) metre [’mi:t ] 米 He is 1.65 metres tall.
(7) point [p int] 点 one point two (1.2)
通过单词游戏,引出要学习的新知,引起学生的兴趣,然后利用学生的迁移能力,引导学生自读单词,培养学生的思维能力。
Step 2 课文内容学习
Tall and short
(呈现教课书图片。)听录音,学习第一部分内容。
文本内容:
1) How tall is he/she
This is Bob. He’s 1.85 metres tall. He’s a tall man.
This is Jack. He is 1.6 metres tall.
This is Li Lin. She is 1.5 metres tall. She’s a bit short.
This is Danny. How tall is he Is he 3.1 metres tall
How tall are you
I’m 1.65 metres tall.
2) How tall are you
Short, short, tall, tall.
Standing up against the wall.
Head up. Tail down.
Standing flat upon the ground!

1.85 m—one point eight five metres
1.6 m—one point six metres
0.95 m—zero point nine five metres
通过听录音,跟读录音,分角色朗读,集中学生注意力,提高听读的效果,巩固所学的知识。
Language points:
tall or short高还是矮
此短语中or连接两个并列的成分,一般用于选择疑问句。选择疑问句是指给出两个或两个以上可能的答案,供对方选择的句式。它是在一般疑问句基础上,加选择连词or及一个或多个选择项构成的。
2) He’s 1.85 metres tall. 他身高1.85米。
此句用来回答询问身高的疑问句。结构为“主语+be+数词+metre(s) tall.”。
在英语中,常用“数词+量词(表示单位的名词)+形容词”来表示长度、宽度、高度等。
3) a bit 一点儿
e.g. I am a bit tired. 我有点儿累。
考查a bit 后加形容词或副词。
e.g. It is a bit cold today. 今天有点儿冷。
a bit of+不可数名词。
e.g. He has a bit of bread every morning.
他每天早上吃点面包。
How tall are you 你多高
该句型是询问身高的特殊疑问句,句型为“How tall+be+主语 ”。
考查问句或答语。常用“主语+be+数词+metre(s) tall.”句型来回答。
e.g. —How tall is your teacher
你的老师有多高
—He is 1.75 metres tall. 他身高1.75米。
Step 3 Let’s Do It!
1. How tall are they Listen and match the people with their heights.
2. Write the opposite of each word.
3. Read the sentences in the box and number the pictures.
4. Work in pairs. Interview your classmates and fill in the table. Then use the information to write some sentences.
Role play
1. Role play the conversation in groups;

七年级的学生, 由于年龄小, 又加上生性活泼好动, 喜欢直观形象思维, 对游戏、竞赛等特别感兴趣。针对学生现状, 在课堂上尽量以鼓励表扬为主, 注重培养学习英语的兴趣, 营造学英语的氛围, 鼓励学生开口说英语, 特别是给差生创造机会, 让他们尝试成功的喜悦。这个教学设计,结构完整,听说读写全面。在使用中,整体感觉很好。图片的使用,引起学生的好奇心,使得学生比较专注于课堂,积极思索, 思维活跃,能全身心投入到学习与集体竞争中,体现出高效课堂的高效率;也能发挥学生的主体作用和老师的引领作用。
