Unit 4 单元话题阅读理解专项练习
(2022·甘肃 · 武威第七中学高一阶段练习) Wechat (微信) is popular among us, but if someone deletes you or blocks (屏蔽)you on it, does it mean you’ve made him or her angry
It depends.
Maybe you have just left messages too often without much valuable information. For example, the questions are those like ‘how are u ’ ‘what are u doing ’ ‘do u love me ’ too often. You know, people may feel bored after answering such kinds of questions time after time.
Another possible reason may be that you’ve sent something unpleasant to your friend or in your friend circle. I just blocked one of my middle school classmates yesterday because she was trying to sell fake goods in the friend circle, and I hate it quite much.
Some people delete the one’s name from friends’ list because they no longer want to see it (maybe ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend) and they don’t want the one to see their “Moments” (动态) on WeChat (maybe they publish very private pictures or life or thoughts they don’t want to share with him or her).
So why you are blocked may depend on his or her mood or preference (喜好), and the reasons a person gets
blocked are various from person to person. So I suggest you to write an email or make a phone call to that person if he or she really means a lot to you to see why he or she is dissatisfied with you, and to find out how you can make up for the case.
1 .From Paragraph 3, we can know if you are blocked that is because ______.
A .you are asking too many boring questions
B .your friend is angry
C .your friend doesn’t like answering questions
D .your friend has no time to reply
2 .The underlined word “fake” in the passage probably means ________.
A.令人喜爱的 B.真实的
C.完美的 D.假冒的
3 .In Paragraph 5, the underlined word “it” refers to ______.
A .the goods B .the name
C .the private life D .the friend circle
4 ._______ causes of being deleted or blocked are mentioned in the passage.
A .4 B .2 C .3 D .5
5 .Which is the best title for the passage
A .Friend Circle
B .Why Are You Blocked
C .A Popular Way of Communication
D .How to Make Your Friend Satisfied

(2021· 广东 · 佛山市顺德区伦教中学高一开学考试) I think that a great friend is a great artist who can change my feeling about life greatly. When I talk about the person who influenced me most, I must think of my best friend quickly.
When I was in my university, one of my classmates sat beside me. His name is Wang Tao. He is my unforgettable friend in my life. He is good at study and handsome. Everyone knows that he is a genius(天才) of my university.
He is kind-hearted and is always ready to help others. But he doesn’t like others to praise him, because he think what he did is common. There is an old saying: A friend in need is a friend indeed. Wang Tao sets a good example in many parts in my life.
I remembered that my mathematics was mediocre at that time, but he was excellent in solving mathematics questions. He often received high scores. Of course, I wished I could reach at his level. Since we talked all day long, he was patient and polite to answer my mathematics questions. Slowly, I made great progress in mathematics. I passed the examination finally. Then we became friends naturally. And now, I still remember his strong will to study.
We know that we live in a society, so we need a lot of friends. There are two kinds of friends, good and bad, bad friend may make our life failed, while good ones make our life successful. To me, Wang Tao is a very good friend. I learned so many advantages from him, and I changed more and more excellently.

(2022· 全国 · 高一课时练习) After a tough year, friends have proven they have always been there for us. Choose Friendship Day 2021 to appreciate the connections you have in life or use this holiday to reach out to past friends and rekindle that bond.
National Friendship Day occurs every year on the first Sunday of August — August 7, 2022 — and celebrates the importance of loving, platonic relationships. For more than a century, we’ve celebrated the strength of friendship, and thanks to social media, we’re able to continue celebrating with our friends no matter where they are in the world.
Humans are the most social beings on earth: we need to relate to others, just as Abraham Maslow exposed in his Hierarchy of human needs. Our sociological needs motivate our behavior, encouraging us to make interpersonal relationships and connect with others on a deeper level. With such a huge need for human connection with people other than our significant other, it’s no wonder that we celebrate an entire holiday based on the importance of friendship.
National Friendship Day was originally a marketing strategy for Hallmark Cards in the 1930s. Founder Joyce Hall designated the day would take place on August 2 and decided it would be a day to celebrate the people closest to you — and send them a card or two in the process. It soon became a bigger deal than originally planned when the 1935 U.S. Congress pronounced the first Sunday of August as National Friendship Day.
The holiday continued gaining popularity, and in 1998 the United Nations named Winnie the Pooh as the world’s Ambassador of Friendship. In 2011, during their 65th session, the U.N. designated July 30 International Friendship Day.
Nowadays, we celebrate National Friendship Day on the first Sunday of August. Thanks to advancements in technology, it is easier to get in touch with friends, to share, and to be thankful for them.
This August 2, celebrate the lover you create and share with the family that you chose — the friends who get you through hard times and cheer you on during your most successful moments.
17 .How long has the International Friendship Day been around
A .One year
B .Eighty-six years
C .Eleven years

19 .The fourth and fifth paragraphs are intended to________.
A .describe when the National Friendship Day are celebrated
B .state where the National Friendship Day are celebrated
C .introduce the history of the National Friendship Day
D .show the popularity the National Friendship Day
20 .Who will someone celebrate this August 2
A .Family members.

C .Teachers and Classmates.
D .True Friends.
(2022·全国 · 高一课时练习) I had to knock on the taxi to get his attention. Finally, the driver, a man about 60, looked up from behind the wheel and apologised, “I’m sorry, but I was reading a letter.” He sounded as if he had a cold or a cough.
Since I was in no hurry, I told him to finish his letter. He shook his head, explaining that he had already read it several times and almost knew it by heart. Curious, I asked whether it was from a child or maybe a grandchild. “This isn’t family,” he replied, “though he might just as well have been are regular member of the family. Old Ed and I grew up together.”
They were always friends. But since he moved away from the neighbourhood 30 years ago, it’d generally just been postcards at Christmas time between them. A couple of weeks ago, Ed died. “I should have kept in touch.” He repeated this, more to himself than to me. To comfort him, I said sometimes we just didn’t seem to find the time. “But we used to find the time,” he said. “Take a look.” He handed the letter over to me.
The first sentence “I’ve been meaning to write for some time, but I’ve always delayed it.” reminded me of myself. It went on to say that he often thought about the good times they had had together. When I read the part where it said “Your friendship really means a lot to me, more than I can say because I’m not good at saying things like that”, I found myself nodding in agreement.
We had gone several kilometres and were almost at my hotel, so I read the last paragraph: “So I thought you’d like to know that I was thinking of you.” And it was ended with “Your Old Friend, Tom.”
“I thought your friend’s name was Ed,” I said.
“I’m Tom,” he explained. “It’s a letter I wrote to Ed before I knew he’d died. I never put it in the mailbox. I
guess I should have written it sooner.” His face was pale as he wiped his eyes with a handkerchief.
When I got to my hotel room I didn’t unpack right away, I had to write a letter and post it.
21 .Who wrote the letter
A .Tom. B .Old Ed.
C .The author. D .The driver’s grandchild.
22 .What can be inferred from the passage about the driver
A .The driver regretted missing Ed’s funeral.
B .The driver regretted moving away from his neighbourhood.
C .The driver regretted forgetting to send Ed Christmas cards.
D .The driver regretted not being able to keep in touch with Ed.
23 .What can learn about the author from Paragraph 4
A .The author often failed to write to his friends.
B .The author had no intention to write to his friends.
C .The author had many great moments with his friends.
D .The author was good at expressing feelings to his friends.
24 .What message does the passage probably try to convey
A .Comfort your friends when they are feeling down .
B .Life is unpredictable, so live each day as if it were your last.

D .Always make time to value and experience your lasting friendships.
(2022· 全国 · 高一课时练习) I think a close friend is someone you get on really well with, who helps you when you have problems, who gives you advice, and who always has time for you. I didn’t use to have many close friends when I was at school or at university as I was very shy, but now I have several. They are all women—I think it’s difficult to have a close friend of the opposite sex(异性).
—Marie
I don’t really have any close friends. I know a lot of people but mainly through work, and the kinds of social occasions(场合)when we meet are business dinners and evening parties. I think if you come from a really close family, then friends are a bit unnecessary. I prefer to spend the little free time I have with my family.
—Richard
I think a close friend is someone who you’ve known for a long time, and who you still get on with. They probably have similar hobbies to you so you can do things together. I’ve got three close friends who I was at high
school with and we often go away together(without our parents of course). We always go camping and
somewhere we can go walking, play football and be outside in the open air.
—David
For me close friends are the people you spend your free time with. I go out at weekends with a group of people—there are about seven of us, and I’d say we are all close friends. We also live near each other. I don’t think you can have close friends at a distance; you need to be able to see each other often. But I don’t think you need to be doing the same things. I mean I’m at university but none of my friends are.
—Anna
25 .What does Richard say about friends
A .It’s hard to make friends at work.
C .Friends need to have a lot in common.
26 .What do we know about Anna’s friends
A .They are college students.
C .They don’t live far away.
27 .Who has more friends now than before
A .Anna. B .David.
B .They’re less important than family.
D .Women and men can’t be close friends.
B .They are doing the same things.
D .They don’t see each other often.
C .Richard. D .Marie.

23.推理判断题。由第四段首句“The first sentence ‘I’ve been meaning to write for some time, but I’ve always delayed it. ’ reminded me of myself. (第一句话——“我一直想写信, 但总是拖延——使我想起了自己。)”可知, 作者也经常这样,未能给自己的朋友写信。故选 A 项。
24.推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是第四段“The first sentence ‘I’ve been meaning to write for some time, but I’ve always delayed it. ’ reminded me of myself. (第一句话——“我一直想写信, 但总是拖延——使我想起了自 己。)”可知, 汤姆一直想写信, 但总是推迟, 这让作者想到了自己。倒数第二段段末“It’s a letter I wrote to Ed before I knew he’d died. I never put it in the mailbox. I guess I should have written it sooner. (这是我在得知艾德 去世前写给他的一封信。我从未把它塞进邮箱里。我想我本应该早点写的。 )”,以及最后一段“When Igot to my hotel room I didn’t unpack right away, I had to write a letter and post it. (当我到达酒店房间时,我没有立即
打开包装,我得写一封信并邮寄出去。)”可知,对于汤姆的好友埃德去世,汤姆反复念一封未寄出的信, 后悔自己未能在好友生前及时联系, 未能珍惜友谊, 这事对作者深有触动, 并及时行动起来。故判断出短
文想要表达的是要留出时间珍惜友谊,不给自己留遗憾。故选 D 项。
