Nowadays, many cultural relics have already been destroyed and hundreds of others are facing the danger of disappearing. So recently our class had a heated discussion about whether it is essential to protect cultural heritage. We are divided on this issue.
87% of the students consider it a high priority to protect cultural heritage. They think that cultural heritage represents splendid historic cultures, offering us an opportunity to learn about what happened in the past, so it is the root of a land . And since most cultural heritage is related to great people, protecting it enbales us to show respect for them. Therefore, cultural heritage, which has survived a long history, is rare and is of great value. Not only can protecting it arouse pride in a nation, but it is also everyone’s duty to safeguard this common wealth of all humans .
However, the rest of the class hold the opposite opinion that it doesn’t matter whether cultural heritage is protected. They argue that it won’t promote the development of society, so it is a waste of time and money to protect it.
As far as I’m concerned, I side with the majority of my classmates: we should attach great importance to protecting cultural heritage. Our country’s cultural heritage protection has made great progress, but many more problems remain to be solved. Therefore, we should keep our mind clear and take more effective steps to better cherish cultural heritage.

A Cross-Country Running Race
Last Sunday witnessed a cross-country running race held by our school. Many enthusiastic participants were attracted to it, including both students and teachers from different grades, all of whom made it to the destination despite the scorching heat and the rugged road.
The whole route, extending 5 kilometres, stretched from our school gate to the foot of the South Mountain. Extremely challenging was the whole course, especially the part near the mountain, narrow and rough. Surprisingly, difficult as it was, no participants gave up halfway. All the racers held on to the finish line.
The race was well received. Not only did it strengthen one’s body physically, but it was also a great test of his stamina mentally. Therefore, we all think highly of it, and expect more activities like this in the future.
