①Fights at school sometimes happen. But how can you keep away from a fight Here’s something you can do.
②Be calm. Sometimes, you feel so angry that you really want to teach somebody a lesson. But being angry can’t solve problems. Neither can a fight. Instead, it may bring you more problems. In the school, everyone involved(卷入) in a fight will be punished, no matter who started it. There are no winners in a fight.
③Shout loudly. If you know someone is coming up behind you to attack, turn toward the person with your hands up in front of your body and loudly say “stop”, before walking away. Loud voice can usually make the attacker calm down. If the person doesn’t stop, cry for help by calling out the name of a teacher whose office is nearby.
④ ▲ Your friend may ask you to join in a fight. Learn to say no. Helping him fight is not really helpful to him. If you really want to give him a hand, try to ask him to give it up. Also, you can tell him if he gets involved in a fight, he may get hurt and be punished. Then, try to learn why he wants a fight and help him find a right way to deal with the problem.

Weekday mornings are very busy for US middle school students. People are running into each other, shouting across the house, knocking on the bathroom door and always, always running late. When you’re late for the carpool, you also make everyone else late.
When your school doesn’t have a bus, and you live too far away to walk, you need a carpool. A carpool is a group of people sharing the responsibility(责任) of driving to school in the morning. There are usually four or five kids in a carpool and their parents take turns driving the kids in their cars.
Someone’s car smells like wet dogs, some kids get to eat desserts for breakfast and some parents shout so much that all you try to do is to stay quiet and go unnoticed. When your mom or dad drives the carpool, your classmates get a close-up look at how strange your parents can be. It might be your first sociological (社会学的) study and your first experience with real teamwork.
Teamwork is really important in the carpool because nobody wants to make everyone else late. It’s a great lesson in responsibility. Imagine sitting in the car outside of a classmate’s house, watching the clock and tapping your toes. Then you start to understand how your carpool friends might feel when you are still inside the house at 7:48. You really begin to learn all your real life lessons just moments before the start of school – in the carpool.
38. What is a carpool
A. Kids go to school in their parents’ cars. B. Parents take turns to drive their kids to school.
C. Parents send kids to schools on their way to work. D. Kids drive their own cars to school.
39. How many kids are usually in a carpool
A. Two or three. B. Three or four. C. Four or five. D. Five or six.
40. What can students learn from a carpool
A. How to drive a car. B. How to get on with others.
C. How to deal with parents. D. Real teamwork.
41. Which of the following is TRUE
A. If kids live far away from school, they are always late for school.
B. US children enjoy carpooling rather than (而不是) taking a school bus.
C. Kids often have enough time to study in a carpool.
D. Kids can learn real life lessons in a carpool.

Millions of young people are writing blogs. Millions of other people are reading them. The word “blog” is short for “web log”.
Many popular websites now offer free, easy ways to create personal web pages. Websites like Facebook and MySpace are some of the most popular sites for people’s daily activities. They give people a place to write their ideas and opinions about how they think of others’ ideas.
Blogs offer young people a place to show their writing and feelings. They can also help people communicate with each other. But blogs can become dangerous when they are read on the Internet by millions of people all over the world.
Recent studies show that young people often give out their names, age and where they live on the Internet. That may not be safe for them. The personal information puts them at the risk (冒险) of being searched out by dangerous people who want to hurt them. Students can also get into trouble when they put others’ information on their blogs.
As a result, many schools have banned the use of blogging websites on school computers. Many schools have also begun teaching parents about the websites. Parents should know what their children are doing online and should read their blogs to make sure they are not giving out personal information. One way to keep away from their problems is to use programs so that blogs can be read by “friends only”. People can read the website only if they know a secret word chosen by the blogger.
42. Blogs give people a place to___________.
A. help others B. share their life with each other
C. fight with dangerous people D. learn lots of things
43. What does the underlined word “banned” mean in the passage
A.禁止 B.表扬 C.创办 D.消灭
Which of the following is NOT true
A. Facebook and MySpace are two popular sites about people’s everyday life.
B. Many young people often give out their personal information on the Internet.
C. It’s OK if you put others’ personal information on the Internet.
D. One way to keep safe on the blogs is to let your blogs only read by your friends.
45. Which is the best title for the passage
A. What Blogs Can Give You B. How to Stay Safe on the Blog
