Unit 5 Do you want to watch a game show
本单元属于“人与社会”范畴，涉及“中外影视、戏剧、音乐、舞蹈、绘画、建筑等艺术形式中的文化价值和作品赏析，优秀的艺术家及其艺术成就”。目的是让学生学会表达自己的看法，并能够灵活运用表达看法的语句。另外还从学生日常的喜好导入，谈论喜欢和不喜欢的事物。
Section A是基本语言内容的收集和学习，要求学生掌握一些常见电视节目类型的英文名称，如talk show，sitcom，news，soap opera，game show，sports show，talent show等，结合do引导的一般疑问句和what引导的特殊疑问句，进行简单会话，表达个人对某种电视节目的喜好。
Section B在Section A的基础上，进一步拓展学生基础知识和语言综合运用能力。Section B 1a在Section A 1a呈现的6种TV shows的基础上增加了comedy，action movie，scary movie等内容。Section B的教学应侧重于引导学生识记并运用一些描述性形容词，如wonderful，relaxing，meaningless，enjoyable，exciting，boring等，自由谈论电视节目并表达个人的喜好。同时，Section B也安排了一些读、写的任务活动，教师在教学过程中可以整合本单元教学内容，引导学生尝试着写简单的影评。
本单元的话题实用且学生感兴趣，本单元的学习对于提升学生具体语境下的语言综合运用能力大有助益，同时也可以丰富学生生活，陶冶情操，对学生德育教育也是益处良多。

播放学生最喜欢看的电影精彩片段，引导学生谈论自己喜欢看的电影类型及其内容。

导入二　词汇导入
教师引导学生剖析英语单词news的来历：news(新闻)来自“东西南北，四面八方”，该词中的四个字母分别是north，east，west，south的首字母，它并不是由“new＋s”构成的。今天我们就谈论一下关于新闻的电视节目。
(一)听说课
活动一　Role－play(分角色表演，小组内谈论喜欢的电视节目及其原因。)

Ask students to look at the picture and the words in 1a，and match the TV shows with the pictures a－g.Then check the answers with the class together.

1．Let students look at the information in 1b and ask students to listen and number the shows 1－4 in the order they hear them.Then check the answers in class.
2．Play the recording the second time and ask students to read after the recording and imitate the pronunciation and intonation.
Work on 1c
1．Show students a sample conversation and then ask them to look at the box in 1c.
2．Let them read the conversation in 1c and then make their own conversations using the words in the box.
3．Then let some pairs act out their conversations in front of the class.Pay attention to the students' pronunciation and intonation.
