Unit 4 I used to be afraid of the dark.
本单元主题属于“人与自我”范畴,涉及“自我认识,自我管理,自我提升”。要求学会运用used to这一特有的语言结构来表述过去的经历和习惯。
Section A通过人物的性格特点和外貌特征的今昔对比让学生感知这一新的语言内容,学习了解这一结构特征,体会它的用法。学生应该重点掌握并且能够正确运用used to这一语言结构来描述同学曾经的性格特点和相貌;复习和学习新的表现性格和外貌的词汇;学会运用used to结构的肯定和否定陈述句、疑问句及其简略回答。
Section B在Section A的话题基础上进行延伸和拓展,由描写人物的性格、外貌变化转向谈论人物的行为习惯、爱好的改变;在语言上,除了进一步巩固Section A所学的重点语言内容外,还复习巩固了有关行为习惯及爱好的短语,并且通过语篇呈现了其他词汇;在技能上,由听、说转到综合性的听、读、写的训练;在策略上,训练学生利用上下文线索进行推导判断、确认语句的位置、解读词语含义;在情感上,利用阅读部分所介绍的一位乡村少年的成长故事对学生进行教育,唤醒学生们的关爱之心,懂得体会亲情的可贵,理解父母的责任,并能在成长的道路上注重心理的健康和成长。

导入一 视频或图片导入
利用视频,提供几组和“人物变化”有关的图片,根据提供的视频及图片内容,引导学生使用used to be描述图片中的人物在外貌或性格等方面的变化,以导入新课。

1a:Ask the students to complete 1a (add some adjectives that they can think of to describe people's appearance and personality they can think),individually first,then check their answers in groups.
1b:Play the recording for the students to listen to and complete 1b.Play it again if necessary,and then check the answers together.
1c:The teacher writes the conversation on the blackboard and asks two students to read the conversation in 1c to the class.Then ask them to do the pair work to make other conversations.After that some pairs should be asked to present their conversations to the class.
