Unit 8 It must belong to Carla.
本单元主题属于“人与自然”范畴,涉及“地球与宇宙的探秘”,要求学生能根据相关信息做推理和判断。

导入一 情境导入
利用课堂中的实物,让学生判断它们是属于谁的。学习“It must belong to…It must be…It might/can't/could…”等句型,从而自然地导入新课。
导入二 图片导入
Show two pictures of a boy and a girl.Tell the students the boy is Tom and he likes listening to music and playing soccer.The girl is Lucy and she has long hair and likes playing tennis.They are both learning English.
Then show the students the following things:a CD,a soccer,a hair band,a tennis ball and an English book.Tell the students these things are Tom's and Lucy's.
Let the students guess which things belong to Tom and which things belong to Lucy.

1.听说课
(1)Listening
①引导学生关注1b表格中所列物品,为听力做好准备,让学生推测物品所属,并陈述理由。
②播放录音,引导学生听关键词,要求学生将物品、主人姓名以及理由相互匹配,检测与自己的推测是否一致。
③再次听录音,要求学生核对答案。
(2)Role-play
Step 1 教师根据前面的听说活动,询问“How might Linda feel?”,
引导学生对故事的后续发展进行合理推测,激发学生学习对话的兴趣。
Step 2 学生先整体阅读对话,把握对话的大意,验证自己的推测是否准确。
Step 3 要求学生再次阅读对话,回答下列问题:
①When did Linda attend a concert
②What did she do after the concert
③Who left the park early
Step 4  要求学生找出其中表示推测的句子。

Step 5 教师播放录音,学生跟读,然后要求学生两人一组练习并表演对话。教师鼓励学生关注朗读技巧,声情并茂地表演对话。

Step 2 Work on 1a~1c
1a:Divide the students into several groups,and then encourages the students to say the things as many as possible.
1b:Play the recording for the students to listen to and complete 1b.Play it again if necessary,then check the answers together.
1c:Ask two students to read the conversation in 1c to the class.Then ask them to do the pair work to make other conversations.After that some pairs should be asked to present their conversations to the class.
【设计意图】通过语言实践活动,让学生对所学目标语言有一定的理解,并在老师和同伴的帮助下学习运用目标语言进行初步交流。
Step 3 Listening 2a~2b
2a:
(1)Ask the students to review the words of school things.

(2)Play the recording for the first time.Students listen and fill in the words in 2a.
(3)Ask “Who do you think the schoolbag belongs to?” Get students to use “could/might/must and can't” to answer.
2b:Let the students read the sentences in 2b individually.Then listen and fill the blanks.They should be given enough time to complete it.

Step 4 Work on 2c
Ask students to make conversations in pairs,using the information in 2a and 2b.

Step 5 Role-play the conversation in 2d
1.Let the students read the conversation individually and answer the questions:

2.Play the recording and get students to listen and repeat,and then role-play the conversation.
3.Ask several pairs to act it out.

Step 2 Reading
●Before reading
Ask students to predict what they will read in this passage with the help of the title and the picture.Make sure not to read the words in the passage.Show some questions to let the students answer.

●While reading
1.Let students scan the passage and check their predictions.
2.Get students to read the passage and decide which might be the best title in 3a,and encourage students to ask their partners for help if needed.Then check the answers.
3.Ask students to read the passage more carefully and mark the language items they don't understand.Then learn them.
4.Point to the phrases given in 3b.Invite a pair of students to do a pair work.One of them reads one of the phrases to the class.The other student makes a sentence with this phrase.In this way,students can understand the meanings of the phrases.Read the instructions to the class.Ask students to finish 3b individually.Check the answers.
5.Get students to finish 3c individually.Invite some students to tell their answers to the class.If the class doesn't agree on the answers,the whole class can read the passage again to find the right answers.
●After reading
1.Read the passage carefully and silently to find the specific ideas.
2.Retell the story according to the key words in the form below.

3.Read the instructions and look at the picture.Work in groups.Make inferences and give reasons.Write the sentences on the blackboard.

Step 5 Pair-work(1d)
1.Ask two students to read the sample conversation to the class.
