Unit 9 I like music that I can dance to.
本单元主题属于“人与社会”范畴,涉及“中外影视、音乐等艺术形式中的文化价值和作品赏析,优秀的艺术家及其艺术成就”。
Section A要求学生掌握与音乐和电影相关词汇,能够通过听和读获取有关音乐和电影的相关信息,了解以that,which,who引导的定语从句在不同语境中的功能和作用,并能用英语表达自己喜欢的音乐和电影。同时还帮助学生复习已经学过的有关音乐和电影方面的词汇以及表示喜好等的描述性词汇。
Section B在Section A的基础上进一步拓展话题,让学生能够运用所学结构谈论其他喜好,阅读部分还涉及到中国的民间音乐及音乐家,也增添了与音乐相关的词汇和表达句式。这部分的重点是运用略读和精读的阅读策略对文本进行解读,了解音乐评价类文章的特点。这部分的难点是运用具体信息描写事物。

导入一 视频导入
播放学生喜欢的音乐视频,激发同学们参与课堂的热情,询问“What kind of music do you like?” 然后导入新课。

导入二 情境导入
教师提问“What do you think is the best way to relax yourself?”,引出各类休闲活动的表述,例如:doing sports,listening to music,reading a book,watching a movie…

导入三 对话导入
师生互动交流,引导学生说出自己喜欢的音乐类型并解释原因。

S2:Because it can help me relax.
T:So you love music that can help you to relax.
教师将定语从句板书,然后要求学生列举更多的定语从句句型,帮助学生更好地理解其含义。
1.听说课
Role-play(分角色表演,谈论自己的周末计划和自己的喜好)
(1)导入交际情景,引导学生由谈论自己的周末计划到自己的喜好。
T:The weekend is coming.What will you do after a long week at school
S:I suppose I will… that I like.
T:What CD/movie/program/song will you…?

(2)介绍对话的情景,要求学生阅读对话内容,并回答问题。
(3)播放录音,学生跟读,模仿对话中的语音语调。
(4)学生两人一组分角色操练对话。可以根据学生的实际水平进行分层要求:
①熟练朗读对话;
②替换对话中的一些信息;
③拓展对话的内容和句型,鼓励学生进行对话创编,并开展有创造性的对话交流。

利用表格中的关键词提示,帮助学生用自己的话复述课文。

1 I was moved by a piece of music named Erquan Yingyue. The music was strangely beautiful,but under the beauty I sensed a strong sadness and pain. It was one of the most moving pieces of music that I've ever heard. The erhu sounded so sad that I almost cried along with it as I listened.
2 Abing lived a very hard life. His mother died when he was very young. His father died when he was a teenager. He was poor and homeless. He developed a serious illness and became blind. He lived on the streets and played music to make money.
3 Abing's musical skills made him very popular. He could play over 600 pieces of music and he wrote many of them himself. His most famous piece is still played and praised by erhu masters today. Erquan Yingyue has become one of China's national treasures.

Period Ⅰ Section A(1a~2d)

Step 1 Lead-in

2.Look and say(show some pictures to the class)

【设计意图】通过问答,让学生模仿看图说话,导入话题,激起学生已有的学习经验,为下一步用定语从句谈论喜欢的音乐作铺垫。
Step 2 Work on 1a~1c
1a:Get the students to look at the picture in 1a and circle the sentences they agree with.Then write their own sentences.get them pay attention to the structure of “I like music that…”.
1b:Play the recording for the students to listen to and complete 1b.Play it again if necessary,then check the answers together.
1c:The teacher asks two students to read the conversation in 1c to the class.Then ask them to do the pair work to make other conversations.After that some pairs should be asked to present their conversations to the class.
【设计意图】让学生围绕中心话题进行一定的语言学习与积累,并做进一步的语言实践活动,从而对所学目标语言有一定的理解,并在老师和同伴的帮助下学习运用目标语言进行初步交流。
Step 3 Listening(2a~2b)
2a:Ask the students to read the sentences in 2a.
Make sure they can understand the meaning of each sentence.
Then ask the students to listen and circle T for true and F for false in 2a.Play the recording 2 or 3 times if necessary,then check the answers.
2b:Let the students read the sentences in 2b individually.Then Ask the students to listen to the tape of 2b and complete the sentences.They should be given enough time to complete it.
【设计意图】2a,2b以听力训练的方式,让学生更深层次地理解和巩固所学目标语言,并提取和处理相关信息完成相应的听力任务,与此同时也达到了提高学生听力技能的目的。
Step 4 Work on 2c
Ask students to make conversations in pairs,using the information in 2a and 2b.
【设计意图】进行初步的语言实践,鼓励学生大胆开口,巩固所学的功能句型。
Step 5 Role-play the conversation in 2d
1.Let the students read the conversation individually and answer the questions:
(1)What kind of music does Scott like Why
(2)Does Scott like serious movies
(3)What kind of movies does Jill want to see
2.Play the recording and get students to listen and repeat,and then role-play the conversation.
3.Ask several pairs to act it out.
4.Let students make up their own conversation in pairs and act it out.

Step 3 Reading
●Before reading
Ask students to predict what they will read in this passage with the help of the title and the picture.Make sure not to read the words in the passage.Show some questions to the students and ask some students to give their give their answers.
●While reading
1.Let students scan the passage and check their predictions.
2.Get students to read the passage and try to find out the answers to the questions in 3b,and encourage students to ask their partners for help if needed.
(1)How does the writer describe each kind of movie
(2)What kinds of movies does the writer prefer to watch when he or she is sad or tired
(3)How does the writer feel after watching these movies
(4)Does the writer like scary movies When does he or she watch them
3.Then check the answers.
●After reading
1.Ask students to read the passage aloud.Then divide them into several groups to have a reading competition.
2.Retell the story according to the chart.

Step 4 Grammar Focus
1.Ask the students to read the questions and answers in the grammar box.
2.Show the questions and answers on PPT and circle the word that/which/who.Tell students when they should use the structure.
3.Then ask the students to do the pair work to practice the questions and answers in the grammar box.

Step 5 Work on 4a、4b & 4c
1.Ask students to look at the table in 4a,and then choose words to make sentences.
2.Ask students to read Jennifer's CD review.Then complete the sentences using that/which/who in 4b.
3.Work in pairs and encourage students to talk about the things they like and dislike.Then ask them to make conversations within their groups.Invite some groups to role-play ther conversations in front of the class.
