数词是表示数量或顺序的词， 可分为基数词和序数词两种。
表示数量，置于名词前。
e.g.I have five apples.
我有五个苹果。
表示编号，置于名词后。名词和基数词首字母通常大写。
e.g.I'm in Class Two, Grade Seven.
我在七年级二班。
表示数目多少的词叫基数词， 如one, two, three等。 基数词可指代或修饰可数名词。
表示号码
My phone number is 239-8271. 我的电话号码是239-8271。
表示年龄
My father is forty now. 我的爸爸四十岁了。
表示时间
It's eight twenty now. 现在八点二十分。
表示计算
Five and three is eight. 五加三等于八。
基数词的拼写
one—twelve, 无规律可言，应当逐一记忆。
thirteen—nineteen, 表示“ 十几”， 在个位数后加后缀-teen读作/ti n/, 但要注意下面几个词的拼写：thirteen(13), fifteen(15), eighteen(18)。
twenty 到ninety, 表示“ 几十”， 以-ty 结尾，但需注意下面几个词的拼写：twenty(20), thirty(30), forty(40), fifty(50), eighty(80)。
“几十几”的表达方法：用整十数加个位数表示，中间用连字符“-”把整十数和个位数连接起来。如：twenty-five(25), sixty-eight(68)。
基数词记忆规则歌诀：
基数词不难记, 找出规律很容易：
零至十二形各异, 加上-teen 为十几,
thirteen, fifteen看仔细,eighteen只有一个t;
twenty 却是很奇怪,forty 本身也不乖,
eighty 一起搞例外, 跟着也把规则坏;
十位后面是个位, 表示数字“几十几”,
表示“几百几十几”, and 常把百、十系。
