While-listening
Dr Wang: Oh, for sure. I would say people like Dr Zhong Nanshan,
who managed the SARS outbreak back in 2003, and Dr
Wu Mengchao, who performed liver operations well into
his 90s.
Wang Le: Yes, that’s right. One of mine is Tu Youyou, whose
research led to the discovery of artemisinin. I really
admire people like her.
Anna Smith: My personal heroes are Alexander Fleming, who
discovered penicillin, and Florence Nightingale, the
founder of modern nursing. Countless lives were
saved due to their amazing work.
Zhong Nanshan is one of the premier medical scientists in the 21st century. In the spring of 2003, the SARS broke out in China and across the globe. Zhong Nanshan not only led but also took an active part in the battle against SARS. At that time no one really knew much about SARS. Dangerous as it was, Zhong Nanshan worked hard day and night treating SARS patients. Through their hard work for several months, Zhong Nanshan and his workmates achieved remarkable results. Soon the SARS epidemic was stopped.

Dr. Wang advises that when you are young, it is very important to find out what really interests you. Also, never lose interest in it when it seems a bit too hard for you.
I agree with him because great people challenge themselves to solve difficult problems. It helps them reach their goals and achieve great things.
Dr Wang: Hi, Anna, please come in.
Anna Smith: Hi, Dr Wang! Long time no see!
Dr Wang: Yes, so you’re here to see Wang Le
Anna: Yes, we’re doing a career-planning project together.
Wang Le: Hi, Anna!
Dr Wang: So I’ll leave you two alone…
Anna Smith: Please don’t go, Dr Wang. Actually, we were planning to interview you. Do you have time now
Dr Wang: me
Wang Le: Yes, Dad. We want to know what made you choose your career as a doctor.
Dr Wang: That’s a good question. Well, long story short, I’ve always wanted to do great things and help people, which might explain why I entered this line of work.
