Peru is famously known as "Land of the Incas". A trip to Peru has been on my wish list for quite a while. It was finally time for me to visit the country.
My first day started in Lima, the capital of Peru. I met with the G Adventures representative(代表) here about the tour. Day two had me taking a flight from Lima to Cusco. Many people visit Cusco for shopping but for me, the main reason for spending a day or two in Cusco was to acclimatize(适应) to the altitude(海拔).As I'd decided to reach the wonder of Machu Picchu, acclimatizing became important to avoid altitude sickness. I was happy to spend a day exploring Cusco. Cusco was once the capital of the Inca Empire. Today, it's famous for its artists, paintings, clothing and traditional instruments. There's something for everyone in this city.
The day finally came! Day three had me enjoying a lovely guided visit to Machu Picchu at sunrise. I had free time to explore the city on my own as well as with my guide. It was a lot to take in! Sharon Holland and her husband, Jer, are travelling around the world and saving money at the same time by swapping(交换) houses with strangers to keep the bills low. They only have to pay for their flights, meaning they save hundreds of pounds on their holidays each year.
The couple's occupation allows them to enjoy long periods of school holidays. Both work as school deputy principals, which allows them to take their children, Cian, 23, Miah, 13, and Faye, 11, abroad up to four times per year. On average, they pay 1,250 per year for flights.
Sharon, from Cork, Ireland, has exchanged her home with a stranger 40 times in the last 13 years and says she's never regretted. She says, "I couldn't imagine travelling in any other way now. Swapping our Irish Georgian farmhouse for another house abroad is amazing. There are home-style houses, modern city apartments and beautiful period houses too. Every holiday is unique and staying in someone else's house makes our experience more rewarding and enjoyable. We are able to meet more locals and understand the culture more than we would if we were to stay at a hotel. We bring our laptops during the summer weeks as we are both responsible for timetabling and school planning but these can be done at a distance."
Sharon has visited various cities in America, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, the UK and their home country of Ireland. "But our favourite place is Italy. We have been lucky enough to visit there six times. Over the years, every experience has been great—from the architecture to the food. We have made some wonderful happy memories no less," she adds.

I visited Aruba last week. On the first day, I mainly enjoyed comfortable sunshine on the beaches there. But I needed more than sunshine and sand to fill my week.
I rented a car the next day. One of my first stops that day was the Alto Vista Chapel, a historic north-side Roman Catholic church. Just as I entered it, a colourful "party bus" filled with singing tourists pulled into the parking lot, ending the silence. So I left soon.
From the church I made my way to the California Lighthouse, named for the steamship California that sank nearby in 1891. After spending some time there, I went to La Trattoria El Faro Blanco, an Italian restaurant that sits on top of the hill and offers scenic views.
I love golfing, so I wasn't going on vacation without spending a day on the courses. The Tierra del Sol Country Club is for golfing on the islands located at its northwest point. Opened in 1995, it is a beautiful place with views of the sea and the California Lighthouse. I spent a full day there.
To completely escape from the other tourists, I booked a four-hour jeep tour for the fourth day. I went to the Arikok National Park, which covers nearly 20 percent of the islands. I stood on a cliff and looked down on a natural pool that was formed inside volcanic rock (火山岩). It was amazing.
My final night was spent at Madame Janette Restaurant. Friends who had been to Aruba told me I had to go there. I dined there while listening to a local musician performing the Beatles9 While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It was so good and the crowd demanded more.
11.Why did the author leave the Alto Vista Chapel soon
A.Because he didn't like the party there.
B.Because he didn't find a place for his car.
C.Because there were too many tourists.
D.Because some tourists made the place noisy.
12.What did the author mainly do on the third day
A.He enjoyed the views of the sea from a lighthouse.
B.He tasted the local food in a popular restaurant.
C.He played a sport in a club.
D.He paid a visit to a park.
13.What is the author's purpose in writing the passage
A.To introduce attractions in Aruba.
B.To encourage readers to visit Aruba.
C.To explain why Aruba is worth a visit.
D.To share his travel experience in Aruba.
14.How is the passage mainly developed
A.By following the space order.
B.By following the time order.
C.By offering causes and effects.
D.By giving examples.

One Saturday morning, I got a call from my aunt. She told me that she had to go with my uncle on a business trip for the day, and she wondered if I could look after my little 6-year-old cousin, Max.I knew that for them, leaving their dearest son for a day was the last thing in the whole world they would do, because they were what is known as “helicopter parents", who keep watching everything their kids do. As a high school student, I knew exactly that children who were' brought up by helicopter parents could end up having many problems and I hoped I could do something to improve the situation, so.I accepted her request. Actually, I was honored to be trusted by such parents.
When I arrived there, my aunt and uncle were just ready to go out, The last thing my aunt said to me before they left was “Don't let him hurt himself while we are away.”She repeated it several times until she thought I took it seriously. After they left, I tried to teach Max to play some games that might be against my aunt's will, but failed. Max seemed not to be interested, and even frightened. I didn't want to push him, so I decided to slow it down.
Around lunch time, Max asked me what was for lunch. I said, “I don't know, what do you want ”He said,“Can you cook scrambled eggs ”I replied,“Of course I can!”“Well,”said Max,
“I want some.”I asked him if he could cook. He looked at me in amazement, and said, “Of course not. Mom won't allow me to approach the kitchen. She thinks I'll be burnt ifI try to do that, but I think it would be amazing to cook what I like on my own.”

第三节
答案:
Dear Tracy,
I'm glad to share one of my most unforgettable travel experiences with you. It was during National Day last year that I visited Gulangyu Island in Xiamen. I arrived there in the morning together with my parents. It's a beautiful island, whose scenery is breathtaking. We stood on the second floor of the boat, enjoying the sights of the sea. To my surprise, I saw the beautiful Jinmen Island. Then we took lots of photos and tasted special snacks off board. At dusk, we enjoyed ourselves so much and forget to leave.
Through the trip, I've broadened my horizon and enriched my life experience. I feel so lucky to live in this beautiful country.
Yours,
Li Hua
答案:
Suddenly, I had an idea. Why not let him start with cooking I was quite good at cooking, so I thought this might be a good opportunity to teach Max a new skill. I told him my idea. Max jumped up and down when he heard that. Due to his height, I pulled up a chair and he stood on it. With my instructions and encouragement, he did well and became confident. Though we made the kitchen messy, we were satisfied with our work. We thought supper would be better.
When my aunt and uncle returned, they saw Max cooking dinner in the kitchen. As I expected, she was shocked. At first, she was worried, fearing her son would fall off the chair or touch something hot. But seeing how well Max was cooking the meal, she was no longer worried. The moment Max saw her, he stopped and shouted happily, “Mom, I can cook now. ” My aunt felt really proud. “Thank you. I never let Max do anything he really wanted to because I feared he would get hurt. Now I should let him just go for it. ”
