As Internet users increasingly depend on the Internet to store information, are people remembering less If you know your computer will save information, why store it in your own personal memory Experts are wondering if the Internet is changing what we remember and how.
In a recent study, Professor Betsy Sparrow conducted some experiments. She and her research team wanted to know the Internet was changing memory. In the first experiment, they gave people 40 unimportant facts to type into a computer. The first group of people understood that the computer would save the information. The second group understood that the computer would not save it. Later, the second group remembered the information better. People in the first group knew they could find the information again, so they did not try to remember it.
In another experiment, the researchers gave people facts to remember, and told them where to find the information on the Internet. The information was in a specific computer file folder(文件夹). Surprisingly, people later remembered the folder's location better than the facts. When people use the Internet, they do not remember the information. Rather, they remember how to find it. This is called “transactive memory(交互记忆)”.
According to Sparrow, we are not becoming people with poor memories as a result of the Internet. Instead, computer users are developing stronger transactive memory; that is, people are learning how to organize huge quantities of information so that they are able to access it at a later date. This doesn't mean we are becoming either more or less intelligent, but there is no doubt that the way we use memory is changing.
8.Why does the passage begin with two questions
A.To introduce the main topic. B.To show the author's attitude.
C.To describe how to use the Internet. D.To explain how to store information.
9.What can we learn about the first experiment
A.Sparrow's team typed the information into a computer.
B.The two groups remembered the information equally well.
C.The first group did not try to remember the information.
D. The second group did not understand the information.
10.In transactive memory, people _____.
A.keep the information in mind B.change the quantity of information
C.organize information like a computer D.remember how to find the information
11.What is the effect of the Internet according to Sparrow's research
A.We are using memory differently.
B.We are becoming more intelligent.
C.We have poorer memories than before.
D. We need a better way to access information.

China has set new rules limiting the amount of time when children can play online games. The rules limit children to just three hours of online game playing a week. That is one hour between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday most weeks.
Li Zhanguo has two children aged 4 and 8.Even though they do not have smartphones, they enjoy playing online games. Like many other parents, Li is happy with the new government rules. But experts say it is unclear if such policies(政策) can help prevent addiction to online games. Children might just get addicted to social media instead. In the end, experts say parents should be the ones to set limits and support good practices.
There has been a growing concern in China about gaming addiction among children. Government reports in 2018 found that about one in ten Chinese children was addicted to the Internet. The new rules are part of an effort to prevent young people from spending too much time on unhealthy entertainment. That includes what officials call the "irrational(不理性的) fan culture".
Under the new rules, the responsibility for making sure children play only three hours a week falls largely on Chinese gaming companies like NetEase and panies have set up real-name registration systems to prevent young users from going past game time limits. They have used facial recognition technology to check their identities. And they have also set up a program that permits people to report what is against the law. It is unclear what punishments gaming companies may face if they do not carry out the policies. And even if such policies are performed, it is also unclear whether they can prevent online addiction.
A specialist treating Internet addiction expects about 20 percent of children will find ways to break the rules by borrowing accounts of their older relatives and find a way to bypass(绕过) facial recognition. In his opinion, short-video apps such as Douyin and Kuaishou are also very popular in China. They are not under the same restrictions(限制规定) as games.
12.When can children play online games according to the new rules
A.Between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m on Friday.
B.Between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m on Tuesday.
C.Between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday.
D.Between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Thursday.
13.According to experts, _____.
A.the new rules can stop children's addiction to social media
B.companies are more responsible for kids' obeying the rules
C.the new rules will help prevent children playing online games
D.parents play a greater part in limiting the time of online games
14.What will children probably do to battle with the new rules
A.Design an advanced program. B.Use facial recognition systems.
C.Set up real-name registration systems. D.Borrow accounts of their older relatives.
15.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A.Rules Limiting Short-video Apps
B.Rules Limiting Online Game Time
C.Rules Banning Irrational Fan Culture
D.Rules Avoiding Addiction to Social Media

The weather was clear but it was dark and Mr. Fairfax could not find a motel to spend the pletely exhausted, he decided to stop by the roadside for a few hours' sleep at the wheel of his car. He fell asleep almost the moment he closed his eyes. But soon he was awakened by a man tapping on the car window. "I say, you don't happen to know the time, do you " the stranger asked.
Mr. Fairfax wound down the window and thrust his head out. "It's around one o'clock," lie answered. Then he wound up his window and soon fell back into a deep slumber.
Half an hour later, another guy came up and knocked on his window who also inquired about the time. Once again, Mr. Fairfax gathered his thoughts and told him that it was just after one thirty.
When the same thing happened yet again, Mr. Fairfax became increasingly irritated. Sleep-deprived, he began to raise his voice at the passer-by: "It's two o' clock. Damn! And why can't you get yourself a watch like the rest of us "
This time when he was winding up the window, Mr. Fairfax figured out how to make sure no one else disturbed him. He found some paper and a pencil and wrote a note that he placed on the windscreen of his car. It said: "I don't know what time it is!" Amused by his good idea, he happily drifted off back to sleep again.
Not long afterwards, the note was spotted by a policeman on his night patrol. Intent on fulfilling his duty to assist motorists, he tapped on Mr. Fairfax's car window.
"Well, sir," the policeman said. "Now it is five past three!"

第二节
答案:GAEFB
解析:①上文介绍了保罗喜欢明信片,下文的“...and you realize that not everyone is into it.” 选项G(简而言之,他喜欢明信片,也喜欢收到远方某个人手写的便条时的那种兴奋)起到承上启下的作用,总结了上文保罗喜欢明信片,也引出下文关于他的喜好得不到回应的问题。故选G。
②上文的“you never receive as many as you send, and you realize that not everyone is into it”说明保罗意识到身边的亲人和朋友不是都和他有相同的爱好,因此他也很坦然地接受这个事实,因此选项A(那完全没问题)符合语境。故选A。
③上文的“Today his hobby has developed into the website , asocial network that has grown to 575,217 registered users in 214 countries and regions since he started it 10 years ago.”
④上文的“As cool as it may be to receive a postcard written in Chinese, the concept doesn't work if one doesn't understand it.”
⑤上文的“Many people in China have limited exposure to English.” 结合下文的“who have actually improved their English skills through their use of postcrossing”可知,写明信片成为一种练习英语的渠道。
1-5.BCBDA 6-10.ADCCA; 11-15.CABDD
根据下文的“The challenge was reading 10 pages of a book every day for 75 days.”
故选A。
故选A。
我们可以先看第8题,上文提到Jost在书里发现了一张5美元的纸币,这是一个小的惊喜(surprise),根据下文的“Go buy a coffee or an ice cream. Practice some self-care today.”
故选A。
故选A。
抛在后面;look for寻找;get over克服。
①walks②whose③our④connected⑤but⑥Social⑦the⑧to express⑨Liking⑩in
take the place of 表示“代替”,故填the。
be not+adj.+enough to do sth.
in person表示“亲自”,故填in。
Nowadays, it's not an uncommon phenomenon that more and more high school students open their own blogs on the Internet.
On the one hand, the blog provides them with a colorful window to show their talents and a way to relax, which makes it more and more popular among high school students.
On the other hand, many parents and teachers are worried about it. They are afraid that managing a blog will take a lot of time and energy, which will have a negative effect on their study.
In my opinion, we should learn to make the most of this useful tool to communicate and show ourselves.

Mr. Fairfax thrust his head out again, staring at the man breaking his sweet dream, his eyes red from lack of sleep. "How dare you!" Mr. Fairfax shouted "I may kill you if you do this again!" "Uh... Excuse me," the policeman replied tentatively. "I was just doing my duty. You know..." Oh, please! Go ahead, sir. Just don't disturb me!" Winding up the window, Mr. Fairfax was eager to go back to sleep.
Paragraph 2:
"I'm sorry Mister, but I think sleeping in the car by the roadside is not a good choice," said the police. "You think " Mr. Fairfax was still angry. "Yeah, so I was thinking you may spend the rest of the night in my office. It's not far from here by the way." "Well," Mr. Fairfax started to feel uneasy. "I have to say thanks a lot, really. And I'm also sorry for the rudeness just now." "Oh, that's OK. But I'm afraid you have to pay a fine of $10 for parking by the roadside." The police wrote a ticket with a tricky smile.
