In a human context, multitasking(多任务处理) refers to performing different activities at the same time, such as editing a document or replying to emails while participating in a teleconference. People think that they are capable of doing many things at once. However, the fact remains that they are merely switching from one job to another.
Several types of research have been done to see how multitasking affects our brains. A study conducted to see if multitasking while driving was good or bad, concluded that performance is primarily reduced when there is a research conflict.
According to the studies, the only time you can multitask is when you’re doing two things and one of them doesn’t require your attention or mental energy, for example jogging while listening to music. In many cases, multitasking has long-term, harmful effects on your health, well-being, and productivity.
Sometimes the tendency to multitask takes a toll on the relationship and the partner feels neglected. Imagine discussing something with your partner while he or she is constantly engaged on the mobile phone checking social media or email. How would that make you feel
Researchers investigated if multitasking increases our productivity and effectiveness. The findings showed that multitasking made individuals less effective and productive, which is contrary to what most multitaskers believe.
There is a cognitive(认知的) cost every time we go from one task to another, which reduces our productivity. Multitasking implies you are constantly shifting your attention between multiple tasks--it is no different from being distracted.
We’d like to believe that doing numerous activities at once is achievable, but it comes at the cost of lowering the quality and amount of attention paid to each task. As a result, you’re less productive and less efficient than someone who concentrates on one task at a time.
What’s more, we lose time and energy when we switch tasks. A study found that when switching between different tasks, the amount of time wasted depends on various factors, and it could range from seconds to hours.
24.Why does the author mention jogging and listening to music
A.To show multitasking is possible. B. To prove multitasking is rewarding.
C.To prove multitasking is difficult. D. To show multitasking is harmful.
25. What does the underlined phrase “takes a toll on” in Paragraph 4 mean
A. Causes damage to. B. Has an influence on. C. Makes no difference to.
D. Is associated with.
26. what do most multitakers think of multitasking
A. It does harm to mental health. B. It affects work performance.
C. It improved work efficiency. D. It extends working hours.
27. Which is the most suitable title for the text
A. Why people like multitaking B. How to achieve multitasking
C. Is multitasking a good thing D. Can we multitask at all

Recently, there have been huge advances in Artificial Intelligence(AI) programs that create art. The programs, which create artworks based on short descriptions, have amazed many people. They have also raised difficult questions.
In April, reported on Dall-E 2, a tool from OpenAI. Dall-E uses AI to create incredible paintings, photos, and other artworks in many different styles based on simple descriptions. Since then, OpenAI has changed its rules to allow anyone to sign up and use the tool. But it’s still putting strong control on the art that can be created.
But now there are several other AI tools that work in similar ways. These new tools are free or cheap, and don’t have some of Dall-E 2’s limits. MIdjourney is a website that allows users to create images from short descriptions. Stable Diffusion is similar, but users can also run the program on their own computers.
The new tools are entertaining and powerful. They allow people to quickly see almost any idea they can imagine, even if they aren’t artists. For some creative workers, like those at companies that create ads or images, the tools allow them to quickly explore new ideas.
Many artists are upset that they’re now competing against computers for attention, prizes and jobs. It’s hard for a single artist to compete against all the art and photography that have ever appeared on the Internet. In August,Jason Allen won first place at the Colotsfo State Fair with his picture Theatre D’opera Spatial, which was created with Midjourney. That upset many people.
The images and the descriptions used to train these AI programs were taken from the Internet. The training images were without permission, which has raised questions about whether what these tools are doing is fair or legal.
The creators of training pictures haven’t given permission for their images to be used, but their skills and talents are a huge part of what makes the new tools so successful. Some artists’ groups say artists should get to decide if their work can be used by these tools.
28.What should we do to create artworks with Dall-E 2 or Midjourney
A.Upload some photos. B. Draw simple pictures
C. Offer brief descriptions. D. Write a short article.
29. How do many artists react to the new AI tools
A. They are concerned about them. B. They are discontented with them.
C. They accept them unwillingly. D. They welcome them warmly.
30. What does the underlined word “That”in Paragraph 5 refer to
A. Jason Allen’s attracting attention. B. Jason Allen’s creating a picture.
C. Jason Allen’s using Midjourney. D. Jason Allen’s winning the prize.
31.In which column of a website are we likely to read this passage
A. Lifestyle B. Business C. Education D. Science
D
Many families are ditching cars for a sweatier morning ride with friends, biking miles in organized clusters led by grown-up volunteers. The effort is a call to fight climate change, encourage exercise and drive less.
Devin Olson organized a bike bus for his local school zone. So far,Olson has led 11 semi-annual bike buses that have grown from about 60 participants to nearly 150. “We meet at 8 am to play soccer and football and eat donuts,” Olson said. “Then we review safety measures and start riding. There’s nothing but laughing, yelling and pure joy.”
The group makes about eight stops along the way to pick up children, many of whom are accompanied by parents or older siblings. “We want kids to celebrate going to school,” explained Olson, adding that cycling can create connectivity between all walks of people.
According to Olson, a successful bike bus takes place on a “slow street”(a shared road for bicyclists and motorists). The bike bus experience has reassured parents who were otherwise nervous about their children biking around traffic.
Bike buses are also popular in other countries, like Spain and Canada. Tom Barnes and Rebecca Mudge, educators in Canada, joined a bike bus to transport their daughters Clara, 6, and Lily,4, to school in London, Ontario. “Clara and Rebecca have their bikes and Lily rides in my bike in a bicycle seat,” Barnes said. Clara said, “I like it that I get to ride with friends from school and that everyone is welcome. We have people who ride scooters too.” Lily said, “I like it that I get to see all the kids from school and that I don’t have to pedal. My dad does it all for me .”
In Portland, Oregon, Sam Balto says, “Bike buses unlocked something I wasn’t prepared for. Parents love seeing their kids connect and it’s become a social hour for parents who linger and talk after the ride. I think we underestimate how much kids enjoy socializing and the freedom and independence that bikes provide.”
32.What is the bike bus
A. The adult-led group riding to school. B. The bus for picking up students at schools.
C. The bike-friendly bus for school children. D. Riding bikes on a shared road for buses.
33. What does Olson think of the bike bus
A. It helps fight against climate change. B. It increases the school grades of children.
C. It brings people closer to each other. D. It teaches children about driving rules.
34. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 5 refer to
A. Cycling with school friends. B. Riding a scooter.

35. What is the best title for the text
