Sure, it's good to get along well with your teacher because it makes the time you spend in the classroom more pleasant.
And yes, it's good to get along well with your teacher because, in general, it's smart to learn how to get along well with the different types of people you'll meet throughout your life.
In fact, kids who get along well with their teachers not only learn more, but they're more comfortable with asking questions and getting extra help. This makes it easier for them to understand new materials and makes them do their best on the tests. When you have this kind of relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as problems with learning or school matters.
Here is a question: what if you don't get along with your teachers In fact, teachers want to get along well with you and enjoy seeing you learn. But teachers and students sometimes have personality clashes(个性冲突), which can happen between any two people. If you show your teacher that you want to make the situation better, he or she will probably do everything possible to make that happen. By dealing with a problem like this, you learn something about how to get along with people who are different from you.
However, if a certain teacher isn't your favorite, you can still have a successful relationship with him or her especially _____. Here are some of those responsibilities(责任):
Attend class ready to learn.
Be prepared for class with the right stationery, and completed assignments(作业).
Listen when your teacher is talking.
Do your best, whether it's a classroom assignment, homework or a test.

2. Which of the following can be filled in the blank in the fifth paragraph
A. if you fulfill(履行) your basic responsibilities as a student
B. if you are thought of as a good student
C. if you know some basic social skills
D. if you are easy-going and helpful
3. What does the passage mainly talk about
A. The importance of friendship in schools.
B. The importance of a good relationship with your teachers.
C. Studying skills for students.
D. Useful skills to get along well with your teachers.

Getting ready for a new semester can be stressful to a new or returning student. Here are some useful tips on how to deal with such pressure.
It's common for students to not know what classes they should take, but there's a simple solution—speak with a counselor. Counselors' suggestions are of great help. When I started high school, I was at a loss for what subjects to choose. So I turned to my counselor and got all the information I needed.
Of course, workbooks are needed for every class, and we all know that workbooks are expensive, and only get more expensive as you continue every semester. Don't worry. I can help. First of all, buy your workbooks ahead of a new semester, either online or in the bookstore. If you wait too long to buy your workbooks online, there's a chance they will be out of stock or not be delivered on time, which will stress you out before school even starts. The best thing to do is, give yourself at least a month to look for your school books online through various websites for low prices to save money, read the reviews to be certain and then order.
Easy steps such as these, really helped me get prepared for a new semester because I knew I was ready to get good grades and face any challenges. Anyway, be confident in starting a new semester, be open-minded, and most importantly, be yourself.
1. What can a counselor do according to the passage
A. Teach students a certain subject.
B. Teach students how to behave.
C. Provide students with advice and information.
D. Find students who get lost on campus.
2. Which of the following is NOT one of the author's suggestions for buying workbooks
A. You can buy workbooks before a new semester starts.
B. You can buy workbooks over the Internet.
C. You can read a workbook on the websites for at least a month first.
D. Read other buyers' comments before deciding on a workbook.
3. What does the underlined phrase "out of stock" probably mean
A. To become cheaper. B. To get smaller in number.
C. To experience a fall in quality. D. To be sold out.
4. The author tries to make his viewpoint clear _____.
A. by using numbers
B. by following the order of time
C. by comparing his ideas with those of others
D. by giving examples of his own
C
Before you were my teacher, I thought that teaching was the last thing I wanted to do. Why would someone want to come in every day and attempt to instruct students, many of whom couldn’t care less, or to get paid very little compared with the work he or she put in
You may have thought that the only thing I was learning from you was the course, but that's not all I learned. From reference books to funny jokes, you made each class exciting. You always tried to make class charming so that we could he excited about learning. However, those days have gone by.
Whenever I was confused and needed extra help, you were the exact one to turn to. I would walk into your room for help and there would be several kids. You ran from one student to the next helping each one through their confusion. You could have gone back home after the bell rang. Instead, you chose to stay and care about what your students did.
You didn't only care about my learning, but you also cared about other things I was involved in. At the beginning of the year, we wrote down our hobbies and interests. You remembered what we wrote, too. I had missed class for track meets(田径运动会) and when I came back the next day, you would ask me how it went. Many of the teachers never bothered to ask what I liked to do.
These things showed me the value of teaching. They showed me how much of an influence a teacher can have on a student. I want to be the one that influences students and pushes them towards success. I want students to leave my classroom thinking that their time was worthwhile (值得的). I want to be the inspiration for them that you were for me. Whenever it gets hard for me to continue on this path, I'll remember you and what you did for me.
1. What did the author think of teaching before the teacher taught him
A. Dull but worthwhile.
B. Boring and low-paid.

D. Challenging and easily-attacked.
2. How did the author find the teacher's class in Paragraph 2
A. Disappointing. B. Difficult. C. Wonderful. D. Common.
3. Why did the teacher ask his students to write down their hobbies and interests
A. To understand them better.
B. To involve them in more activities.
C. To treat them differently.
D. To control them in a better way.
4. What does the author think the value of teaching lies in
A. The care and passion that teachers have.
B. The process of students' forming a good habit.
C. The successful students whom a teacher has taught.
D. The influence on students' development in the future.

Yesterday a heat wave hit the town. "It's too hot! Let's go for a swim after we finish our chores(家务活) at home!" Joseph complained to his little brother, Loren. As the boys walked toward the Little Colorado River, they saw Sam and Frank, who ran to join them. "Swimming's just what we need to cool off!" Sam said, kicking a rock.
"Sure it is," Frank agreed. Then he looked at the field they were passing. There were many round watermelons in Farmer Davis's patch(果园).“Hey, Joseph,” said Frank, "do you have the courage to climb over that fence and get us a ripe(成熟的) watermelon "
"I don't know," said Joseph.
Loren looked uncomfortable. "I don't think that's a good idea."
"Come on," said Frank, pushing Joseph toward the fence. "No one will ever know." Then Frank started to climb the wooden fence. Joseph felt bad but climbed the fence and jumped with Frank into the watermelon patch.
Joseph took the closest melon and raced back to the fence. The other boys laughed and took turns to carry the heavy melon as they ran to the river. Finally they broke open the watermelon. The sticky sweet juice was delicious! But Joseph regretted what he had done and wished he hadn't taken the melon.
On the way home, they finished off the last piece of the melon just as they passed the watermelon patch again. Joseph lowered his head quickly when he saw Farmer Davis in the field. He waved at the boys, who quickly threw the melon rind(皮)to the side of the road. Davis looked upset as the boys hurried by. Joseph felt terrible. It was wrong to take the watermelon. He knew he had to tell Farmer Davis what they had done and ask for forgiveness(宽恕).
That evening Farmer Davis visited Joseph and Loren at their house. "One of my biggest watermelons went missing," he said. "And I am wondering if you boys happened to see anyone in my field as you passed by today."

Joseph looked at his shoes and said in a low voice, "We were with some other boys, and I took a watermelon from your field. We took it to the river and all of us ate it together." Farmer Davis said sadly, "Taking a melon that you didn't grow is stealing." "I'm really sorry," said Joseph. "I don't have any money, but I could do some chores to make it up to you." "I ate some too," said Loren. "I'll give you a hand."

Farmer Davis thought for a minute. "Come to my field tomorrow morning. I think I can find some work for you." That night Joseph regretted having taken something that didn't belong to him. He decided not to do such things the next time. He felt a little comfortable thinking that he could do something to make up for his mistake. The next morning he would go to Davis's field and do whatever Davis asked him to do. And he wouldn't complain about the extra work or the heat.
