Parents feel that it is difficult to live with teenagers. Then again, teenagers have 1 feelings about their parents, saying that it is not easy living with them. According to a recent research, the most common 2 between parents and teenagers is that regarding untidiness and daily routine tasks. On the one hand, parents go mad over 3 rooms, clothes thrown on the floor and their children’s refusal to help with the housework. On the other hand, teenagers lose their patience continually when parents blame them for 4 the towel in the bathroom, not cleaning up their room or refusing to do the shopping at the supermarket.
The research, conducted by St. George University, shows that different parents have different 5 to these problems. However, some methods are more 6 than others. For example, those parents who shout at their children for their untidiness, but 7 clean the room for them, have fewer chances of changing their children’s 8 . On the contrary, those who let teenagers experience the consequences(后果)of their actions can do better. For example, when teenagers who don’t help their parents with the shopping don’t find their favorite drink in the refrigerator, they are forced to reconsider their actions.
Psychologists say that 9 is the most important thing in the parent-child relationships. Parents should 10 to their children but at the same time they should end an ear to what they have to say. Parents may blame their children when they are untidy but they should also understand that their room is their own private munication is a two-way process. It is only by listening to and understanding each other that problem between parents and children can be settled.

Most parents, I suppose, have had the experience of reading a bedtime story 21 their children. And they must have realized how difficult it is to write a good children’s book. Either the author has aimed(定目标) too 22 , so that children can’t follow what is in his(or more often, her) story, 23 the story seems to be talking to the readers.
The best children’s books are 24 very difficult nor very simple, and satisfy the child who hears the story and the adult who reads it. Unfortunately, there are in fact few books like this, 25 the problem of finding the right bedtime story is not 26 to solve. This may be why many of the books regarded as 27 of children’s literature were in fact written for grown-ups. “Alice in Wonderland” is perhaps the most obvious of this.
Children, left for themselves, often 28 the worst possible interest in literature. Just leave a child in a bookshop or a library and he will more willingly choose the books written in an unimaginative way, or have a look at the most children’s comics, Rill of the stories and jokes which are the rejections of teachers and righting-thinking parents.
Perhaps we parents should stop 29 to brainwash children into accepting our taste in literature. After all, children and adults are so 30 that we parents should not expect that they will enjoy the same books. So I suppose we’ll just have to compromise(妥协) over the bedtime story.

I had to make a decision. While cleaning the house, I found my 13-year-old sister’s diary.
I 31 the book up from the floor and opened it, searching for my name. I thought that I would find something 32 . As I read, the tears ran from my face. It was not the same as I thought. I sat down on the floor. There was nothing bad there at all. There was a short description of 33 , her goals and her dreams, and of the person who had encouraged her most. I started to cry. I was her 34 . She admired me for my personality, my achievements and, strangely, my honesty. She wanted to be 35 me. She had been watching me for years. I stopped reading. I felt ashamed (难为情的) of myself. I had put so much energy into 36 her away that I had missed out on being her friend.
I wasted years hating someone and now I had violated (违背) her trust. It was I who had lost something beautiful, and it was I who would 37 allow myself to do such a thing again.
The words my sister wrote 38 my heart, and I wanted to know her again. I was finally able to put away the 39 things that kept me from her. That afternoon, I decided to go to her-this time to experience, 40 not to judge, to welcome, but not to fight. After all, she was my sister.

A little boy invited his mother to his school’s first teacher-parent meeting. He never thought that she would 41 . But she did. He felt worried. 42 she was a beautiful woman, there was a scar (伤疤) that covered nearly the whole right side of her face.
At the meeting, the boy was 43 to see other people having a good talk with his mother. But he felt sorry for his mother’s face and sat in a chair 44 his mother. Just then he heard a talk 45 his mother and his teacher.
“How did you get the scar on your 46 ” the teacher asked. She replied, “When my son was a baby, his room caught on fire one day. 47 was too afraid to go in, so I went in and ran towards his bed. Just then I saw a beam (横梁) coming down and I placed myself over him trying to 48 him. I was knocked but luckily, a fireman saved both of us.” She touched the scar. “This scar will be here forever, but I have never regretted 49 I did for my son. You see, he is strong and healthy now.”

“BANG!”I shut the door. We were both in great 51 . “Never set foot in this house again!” shouted Father. With tears(眼泪)in my eyes, I 52 out of the flat and ran along the street.
The street lights were shining, causing my feeling of 53 , I walked about and couldn’t help crying, knowing 54 to go.
When I am growing up, dad is getting 55 . We are just two persons coming from two different worlds. It feels like there is a door between us that can 56 be opened. I walked in the streets. There were fewer and fewer people. When I finally reached the apartment in which I lived, I saw that the light was still on.
I thought to myself, “Is Father waiting for me or is he still 57 me ”
In fact, it was nothing. Perhaps, dad was throwing away some of his old stamps. Perhaps he thought they were 58 . I never had the courage to tell him that I liked collecting stamps. All the lights were off except father’s.
Dad was always like this. He has been a leader for so long that he always 59 everyone else what to do.Maybe he didn’t know how to 60 himself. After shouting at me, he never showed any moments of regret. 61 he has the habit of tucking me in(给……盖被子)while I am sleeping.
The light was 62 on. “Am I wrong ” With the key in hand, I was as 63 as I had ever been. At last, I decided to open the door. As soon as I opened the door, tears 64 down my face. I suddenly realized that the 65 that I had imagined between us did not exist at all. Love—is second to none.

One day I was watching a movie at home and tears dropped from my eyes as I saw a touching scene. My three-year-old son came to me and asked me why I was crying. I kept silent as I couldn't explain 66 him it was just an emotional thing. To my surprise, he 67 my face with his little hand and said, "Dear Mom, stop crying! You see 68 will be fine. You're my good girl. So just get up and let's get ready for school." On hearing him saying this to me I could not help 69 . It was so funny for a child to say so. Later I 70 that he had repeated almost the 71 thing that I told him when he was crying.
The first time a child begins to speak, he tries to 72 what his parents have been telling him for a long time. Usually parents 73 with the words "Mama", "Papa" and so on. But as the child 74 learning and possibly starts speaking on his own without being 75 , we as parents always forget he's still being tutored(教导) by us.
We always use words 76 we don't want our child to say and when he says those words, we 77 where he has learned them. Even then, some of us don't realize that the child has learned the words from us only. 78 , we start to put the blame(指责) on either his friends or somebody who has talked to him when we are not present.
So if you want your child to have perfect 79 , you'll have to set a good example for him. And if you can't do that, you have no right to expect your child to have such a thing. After all, the parents' words and behavior have a great 80 on their child.

This Father’s Day certainly seems different to me. My 111 as a father during the pandemic(大流行病) has taught me something new and special about fatherhood.
I’m a photographer and have to travel from time to time. 112 , living in isolation (隔离) brought me closer to my son Diego. We 113 every corner of the house together: reading on the sofa, watching movies in the bedroom and grilling on the roof. Now instead of always yelling, “Mommy, Mommy,” my son screams, “Daddy!” That makes me 114 . I’m so thankful for this unexpected gift of a deeper 115 with my son.
On our first day of freedom after two months of isolation, I discovered Diego didn’t know 116 very well. While visiting a park in the city, I noticed that he was even afraid of ants. So my wife and I planned a trip to the 117 . My father joined us and, for a couple of days, we three-my father, my son and I-found ourselves walking in the woods.
The pandemic allowed me to take the time to understand what it means to be a father, with the honor and duty to pass on my parents’ teachings to my son. Of course, I really 118 the time I spent working in the field of photography. But I’ve 119 a lot of time with my family, especially with my 120 . I used to think that without photography, I was nothing. Now I see that, without love, I am less than nothing.

To be honest, no matter how old we are, most of us love it when our parents do things for us. It makes our lives easier, and we have 121 to worry about.
Some parents are used to doing almost 122 for their children. 123 regard their older children (and sometimes even adults) 124 babies! It can be a very common problem in China. In big cities in China, most parents only have one child. Some parents care so much about the 125 of their children that they are afraid to let them go anywhere 126 do anything by themselves. As a result, their children 127 to learn social skills, and depend more on parents!
In fact, no children really 128 being looked after by their parents all the time. No parents will be happy if they know that. As a result of too much care, their children don't know about the world! Children need 129 own time to develop into adults and to learn 130 to deal with problems. Too much care spoils their fun when they are growing up. And when suddenly they can’t 131 on their parents, they will be in big trouble!
It is nice that parents 132 their care and attention to their children. It is nice that children know that their parents’ care 133 the result of love. And it will be nicer if children let their parents know how 134 love they really need, and how much love is 135 .

Love in a Box
When I was a little girl, I found love in a box all because of a class assignment(作业).
On a Friday night I 136 at dinner table, "My teacher said we have to bring a box,a special box, for our valentines on Monday".
a valentine box
Mother said, "We'll see," and she continued eating.
What did "We'll see" mean I had to have that box or my second grade Valentine's Day would be terrible. Maybe they didn't love me enough to help me with my 137 .
All Saturday I waited 138 and with Sunday arriving, my worry increased, but I knew an enquiry(询问)about the box might cause anger or loud voice, for in my house children only asked once. More than that 139 trouble.
Late Sunday afternoon, my father called me into the kitchen. The table was covered with colorful paper of different kinds. A(n) 140 shoebox rested on top of it. A heavy stone dropped when Daddy said, "Let's get started on your project."
In the next hour my father packed the shoebox into a surprising valentine box. Colorful paper covered the ugly cardboard with red hearts posted to what I considered all the right places. He sang while he worked. When he finished, he was so pleased that a broad smile spread over his face. "What do you think of that " he asked.
I answered him with a hug. But inside, joy danced all the way to my heart. It was the rst time that my father devoted(倾注)so much 141 to me, for his world lled with work only.
The holiday party arrived, and my classmates put cards and presents into the valentine boxes. Laughter lled our classroom.
On the way home, I held out my valentine box for the world to 142 . The love that lled it meant more to me than all the valentines inside.
The valentine box became a symbol(象征)of his love that 143 through several years of other Valentine's Days. He gave me other gifts through the years, but none ever compared with the old, empty shoebox.

I’ve loved my mother’s desk since I was just tall enough to see above the top of it. I liked to stand by the chair 144 mother sat doing letters. Looking at the ink bottle, pens, and white paper, I decided that 145 must be the most wonderful thing in the world.
Years later, during her final illness, mother kept different things 146 my sister and brother. “But the 147 ,” she said again and again, “it’s for Elizabeth. ”
I never saw her be angry or cry. I knew she loved me and she showed it in 148 . But as a young girl, I wanted heart-to-heart talks between mother and daughter. They 149 happened. And a gulf (深沟) 150 between us. I was too emotional (易动感情的). But she still stayed 151 .
As years passed I had my own family. I loved my mother and 152 her for letting me falling in love with writing. I wrote to her in careful words and asked her to let me know if she did forgive (原谅) me. I posted the letter and waited for her answer. 153 came.
My hope turned into disappointment, then little interest and, finally, 154 — it seemed that nothing happened. I couldn’t be sure that the letter had even got to 155 . I only knew that I had written it.
Now the present of her desk told that she was 156 that writing was my chosen work. I cleaned the desk carefully and found some papers inside — a photo of my father and a one-page 157 , folded and refolded many times. It was surely the one from me.
I finally got the answer that she had forgiven me. Mother, you always chose the action that meant much more than 158 .
