Comic strip Lead-in Step 1Presentation 1.Free talk T: There is something wrong with my computer. I’m going to fix it today. I’m going to do some DIY work. T:When you do DIY work, you do things yourself. Can you do any DIY work What can you do Ss:I can make kites/repair my bicycle/paint the shelf… 2.Listen to the tape and answer questions. T: look at the pictures, please. Hobo has some work to do today. Do you think Eddie will help him Please guess. T: Now let’s listen to Eddie and Hobo’s dialogue and answer the question: (Write down: tool instruction on the blackboard.) 3.Reading T：Now open your books. Let’s repeat Eddie and Hobo’s dialogue. Step 2 Practice Repeat the dialogue after the tape. Role-play. T: These two teams will read Eddie’s part and these two will read Hobo’s part. Step3 activities Work in pairs. Read the dialogue and add your own ideas. Act it out. Welcome to the unit Step 1 Presentation 1.Free talk T: Hobo has to build his new house on his own. He needs some tools. What tools do you think he needs Please guess freely. 2.Read and learn the new words about part A. Please open your books. Look at the young man in this picture. Please read all the words after the teacher. Step 2 Practice 1.Discussion Boys and girls, do you know what these tools are used for Please discuss in pairs. S: That’s right. Brushes are used for painting, sweeping, cleaning and so on. 2.Listen to the tape about Part B and answer the question. 3.Read the dialogue after the tape. 4.Ask some students to read it. Do you know what DIY stands for Can you do any DIY work What can you do Do you think Eddie will help him What is Hobo going to do What should Hobo do first What does Hobo probably need What tools do you think he needs Please guess freely.
