The UN Environment Programme says that rising temperatures could mean the end of some migrating(迁徙) animals.
Migrating animals move through several environments as they travel away from the cold of winter to warmer areas. Birds may fly from one part of the world to another, perhaps stopping at feeding grounds on the way. Whales and turtles travel through huge areas of ocean. A report says that changes in any one of the places where these animals stay can cause serious problems. "Obviously these animals have developed their traveling ways over thousands of years. But weather changes much greater over the next 25 to 50 years. And it is impossible for these animals to change their habits fast enough," said the report writer Dr. Robert Hepworth.
Turtles are hit hardest by rising temperatures. Scientists have found that at higher temperatures, turtles have far more female eggs than male ones. In parts of Malaysia, turtles are only giving birth to female babies. And some turtles are more likely to develop cancer as the waters get warmer.
With birds, the main problem is the harm to important areas at the end of their travels or at resting places along the way. About one-fifth of immigration birds are now in danger because of these changes, including rising sea levels, land loss and more strong storms.
Some other animals are now in great danger. For example, the North Atlantic Right Whale is losing their food because of the changing ocean flows; the White-Nose Dolphin is out-competed(淘汰) by other kinds in warmer waters.
The report is not all bad news. Even with the temperature changing, protecting the environment can still help migrating animals return. "We need governments to start taking action all over the world. The clock is ticking. We should make full use of every minute." said Dr. Hepworth. And now some projects are already working! Whales are changing their feeding habits, finding new feeding grounds and new foods to eat.
1.Why does this rising temperature mean the end of some migrating animals
A.They stop moving through several environments.
B.They can't adapt to the changes during their travelling.
C.Their travelling habits will be changed fast enough.
D.They keep flying from one part of the world to another.
2.What is the result of the warming according to the passage
A.1/5 of migrating birds change their feeding habits.
B.The North Atlantic Right Whale may find new food.
C.Some turtles may develop cancer with the warm waters.
D.The White-Nosed Dolphin may have only female babies.
3.What does the underlined sentence "The clock is ticking" mean
A.It takes time to achieve the project.
B.It may be too late to save the world.
C.It's time to solve the problems at once.
D.It's important to stop animals returning.
4.What's the main topic of the passage
A.Ways to prevent world warming.
B.Steps to save the animals in danger.
C.Animals' competition with others for food.
D.Effects of global warming on certain animals.
C
It is quite clear to me, based on my research, that tropical(热带的) insects rather than polar bears could be among the first species to become extinct(灭绝的) as a result of global warming.
Insects in the tropics are already living at the limit of their temperature range and any further increase could quickly kill them off. This would be a major disaster for tropical habitats, which rely on insects for everything from pollination(授粉) to waste disposal(处理). We have found that a rise in average temperatures in the tropics of just 1℃ or 2℃ could be enough to bring about a significant and harmful effect on the survival of a wide variety of important insects. Fitness levels most likely decline quickly and there may not be much we can do about it.
Many tropical species can only accept a narrow range of temperatures because the climate they experience is pretty steady throughout the year. Now our study shows that they will be harmed by rising temperatures more than species in cold climates. Unfortunately, the tropics also hold the large majority of species on the planet.
We used daily and monthly global temperatures from the 50-year period between 1950 and 2000and compared them with data showing the "fitness levels" of different species. "Fitness" was determined by indicators such as population growth rates and physical performance for different creatures.
We found that even moving into the shade did not help the insects. The direct effects of climate change on the organisms(生物) we studied appear to depend a lot more on the organisms' flexibility than on the amount of warming in the area where they lived.
As well as the danger to insects, the research confirms that there will be other consequences of global warming that could also have a serious impact on tropical regions, particularly on food crops. Our research focused only on the impact of changes in temperature, but warming will also change rainfall patterns. These changes could be more important for many tropical organisms, such as plants, but they are harder to predict.
1.What does the underlined word "This" in Paragraph 2 refer to
A.Global warming. B.Living in the tropics.
C.Killing polar bears off. D.Insects becoming extinct.
2.Why are tropical species more likely harmed by climate change
A.The fitness of crops they feed on is declining.
B.They can hardly stand up to temperature changes.
C.Their living environment has been greatly damaged.
D.The amount of warming is not steady in the tropics.
3.What does the last paragraph mainly talk about
A.The significance of the research.
B.The challenge facing the researchers.
C.Predictions about the impacts of global warming.
D.Suggestions on how to preserve tropical regions.
4.What is the main purpose of this text
A.To solve a problem. B.To give practical advice.
C.To report a coming event. D.To present a research result.
D
There's nothing like having a best friend forever—that person who you can have fun with and talk to. July 30 is the International Day of Friendship. Maybe you can seek to encounter a new friend. And while we're talking about friends, don't think humans are the only ones who know a thing or two about friendship. Check out these friendly animals in nature who help each other out.
An elephant and an olive baboon(东非狒狒) can be friends It sounds amazing, but it's true. You can find this pair of friends in the grasslands of Africa. This unusual pair can help each other out like any pair of good friends would. The elephant uses its front teeth to make a waterhole in the sand, and it lets the olive baboon have a drink from this "well" when it gets thirsty. In return, the baboon tells the elephant when danger is near. It climbs up to the treetops and calls out so its friend knows that it's time to move on.
In the sea world, the goby fish(虾虎鱼) and the shrimp are well-known for their friendship. The shrimp provides a home for the goby fish, while the goby fish provides a guidance service for the almost blind shrimp. You see, the goby has great eyesight(视力) and stays close to the shrimp. As the shrimp moves around, the shrimp is feeling the goby with its antennae(触须)from time to time to make sure it's still there. If the goby senses danger, it will return to the home and the shrimp will follow.
The langur(叶猴) has a very good friendship with the chital deer(斑鹿). While the langur eats in a tree, it drops leaves to the ground. This is good for the deer because sometimes there's not much food. The deer will follow the langur and eat whatever food that is dropped. And in return, when the langur comes down from the tree, the deer will stamp heavily to tell the langur if it senses danger.
1.How can an elephant help an olive baboon
A.By providing protection. B.By providing a home.
C.By providing water. D.By providing information.
2.What does a shrimp do when moving around in the sea
A.It never swims far from its home. B.It goes home from time to time.
C.It uses its antennae for directions. D.It stays close to the goby fish.
3.What do the olive baboon and the chital deer have in common
A.They warn their friends of danger. B.They live together with their friends.
C.They have a good sense of smell. D.They have good eyesight.
4.What would be the best title for the text
A.Best friends forever B.Friendship in the animal world
C.Love me, love my dog D.The International Day of Friendship

More than half the planet's population now live in cities, with limited access to the natural world. For Europe and Latin America, the figure is more than 70%. ①_____
Gardening in particular is an opportunity for everyone to have such kind of experience, even if they live in built-up areas. It is typically seen as moderate(适度的) intensity exercise equal to playing doubles tennis or walking at a speed of 3.5 mph, so it has similar fitness benefits.
②_____ Home and gardens have long been important for family food production, but gardening can also encourage people to eat more healthily and act as an educational resource of nutritious food. In fact, children who take part in gardening and grow their own food have a greater preference for, and increased consumption of, fruit and vegetables.
③_____ Research has shown that gardeners generally have greater life satisfaction, raised self-esteem and fewer feelings of depression and anger than non-gardeners.
This last point suggests that the mental benefits of gardening may be more than just a side effect of the physical exercise involved. ④_____ People with strong social networks have increased life expectancy, less stress and fewer visits to the doctor. In addition, spending time outdoors in a natural environment helps us to feel less stressed, reduce the symptoms of depression, and improve our concentration and attention.
All the evidence shows there's a strong relationship between gardening and health, but we only know for sure that there is connection, not "cause and effect". ⑤_____ We also need to directly examine the immediate effects of gardening on people who have never previously taken part or are suffering from mental and physical ill health.
A.Gardening is also linked to better diets.
B.But more than this, it can improve people's mental health.
C.One possible reason is that gardening can involve social interaction.
D.Good eating is supposed to include a balance of several food groups.
E.Yet contact with nature has varieties of benefits for both physical and mental health.
F.This means gardening alone is not necessarily a direct cause of any improvements in health.
G.Remaining socially active can also inspire seniors to build confidence and live a healthy life.

Last weekend, I went to Mark's new house nearby a forest for a little get-together. After lunch, when I was chatting with him and his wife Cody, he asked me, "Hey Tom, have you ever been to a secret spot " Before I could even finish saying no, Cody and Mark were already at the door with their jackets on. And the next moment we were heading out into the forest with a camera, a fishing net and a plastic bucket(桶).
We walked through the forest along a path by a small river. Breathing the fresh air, we three talked and laughed all the way.
"Hey, what are you guys doing " someone suddenly shouted from behind. Mark and Cody's eyes immediately widened, and without a word they started running. I had no choice but to follow them, getting my shoes wet and dirty with mud. We probably ran for about 10 minutes before Mark and Cody slowed down. I stopped to catch my breath and asked, "Who's that "
Mark replied, "The most annoying neighbor ever. If he caught up with us, there is no telling what could happen. He is always making fun of us. I dislike him." We kept walking for a few more minutes. Then a beautiful lake appeared before our eyes. "Wow! Amazing!" I shouted and could hardly hold back my excitement. The lake was large and the water was deep and blue, looking so peaceful with tall trees around it.
Looking around, we saw a rubber boat floating by the shore.

第三节
答案:
A Week in the Wild
This winter holiday, I, together with 30 other students, went to Yunnan and took part in the Wildlife Protection Winter Camp held by WWF.
We spent one week in the wild learning about endangered animals from wildlife professionals. We observed how different species of monkeys adapted themselves to their natural habitats. What's more, to help protect them, various activities were organized, such as picking up plastics, removing nets and traps and putting up posters.
The camp deepened our understanding of the wildlife protection. Only when we learn to exist in harmony with nature can we enjoy a better future together
第二节
Paragraph 1:
Looking around, we saw a rubber boat floating by the shore. "How about going boating " Mark asked. "Good idea!" I replied. So we three excitedly jumped onto the boat and rowed far. I was thrilled to find so many fishes in the lake. Before I could say a word, Mark had cast the fishing net into the water. "Let's wait and see," Mark smiled mysteriously. "Look this way. Let me take a photo of you two, Cody said, taking out the camera. Hearing that, I quickly approached Mark. But all of a sudden, I lost my balance and fell into the water.
Paragraph 2:
"Help! Help! Help!" I was so frightened and cried for help. However, none of us could swim. Mark and Cody tried to pull me up from the water but in vain. Struggling in the water, I was almost exhausted when I felt myself lifted by someone. It was Mark's neighbor who followed us there and saw what had happened. Without hesitation, he jumped into the water and I was saved.
