A
Life is full of funny moments, and not just for humans. Over the years, studies by various groups have suggested that monkeys, dogs and even rats love a good laugh. People, meanwhile, have been laughing since they could talk.
Jaak Panksepp, a professor at Bowling Green State University, US, said he would not be surprised if positive feelings could be produced in some animals. Dolphins, for example, have long attracted animal researchers because of the complex(复杂的) ways in which they communicate: a rich variety of sounds of different rhythms. A decade ago, researchers studying dolphins at the Kolmarden Wildlife Park in Sweden noticed a set of sounds the dolphins made during play—fighting. They concluded that the purpose of the sound was to suggest that the situation was pleasant and to prevent it from a real fight.
Panksepp has even seen evidence of joy in crayfish When given small amounts of drugs such as cocaine(可卡因) in a certain place, they appear to connect that location with pleasure. "Given the chance, they will always return to that place, perhaps in the hope of getting more," he says. Panksepp wasn't sure if it equals the same happiness that humans get from cocaine, but said it "could be in the same evolutionary category".
More studies are needed to really understand animals' laughter. Strangely enough, the answers may help with our own desires for cures for mental illnesses. Panksepp's experiments may soon lead to a new antidepressant(抗抑郁的) drug that works by using the pathways in the brain behind positive feelings and joy. Perhaps pleasure and laughter in the animal world will help solve the depression in our own species one day.

These days, short videos have attracted millions of viewers online. Many people create short videos on popular video apps like Douyin and Kuaishou. You can even add music and special effects to your videos. The videos are 15 seconds to a few minutes long. They show people doing activities like cooking, exercising and singing.
Teenagers especially enjoy these videos. More than 50 percent of students in Grade 10 and Grade 11said they enjoyed watching these short videos. About 47 percent have posted their own videos, according to a recent report.
The videos let teenagers see funny and appealing things they wouldn't usually see. Many teenagers like to share the funny things they do with others as well. For example, the 16-year-old user named Xiao Qianyu has posted videos showing her learning jazz dance. This has won her many fans.
However, the videos can also cause trouble. Some students spend too much time watching them and not enough time studying. Some videos have the vulgar content that is not good for teenagers.
To deal with this problem, Douyin added a new function in April, 2018. It locks the app if someone uses the app for over two hours a day. In the same month, the government asked companies to control these apps well and get rid of bad videos.

Opera for Beginners
Many people think that opera is boring, difficult to understand and unpleasant to listen to. They only see strange people singing in a strange language and wearing funny costumes. They're too quick to judge it and a lot of people have believed stupid ideas about opera without ever actually seeing one. If one takes opera seriously, with an open heart, and goes to several good live performances, I don't see any reason why he or she would dislike or hate it. The following tips can help you learn to enjoy opera.
First of all, if you are new to opera, start with a short, well-known title, such as The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart. In the beginning, avoid difficult operas with complex storylines. If your first experience is not fun, then you will expect all operas to be boring. Moreover, before going to a performance, do a little bit of homework: learn the story of the opera. If you know about the main characters and the story before you start watching, it will be much easier to understand what is happening on the stage. Finally, the most important way to enjoy opera is to keep an open mind. If you believe that you will enjoy watching opera, then you will most likely enjoy it. Think of opera as a live TV show. Opera shows the same things—love and hate, good and evil, and humans and nature—that are found in many of today's popular movies and best-selling novels. In fact, many of these movies and novels use stories copied from famous operas!
Opera is full of catchy, appealing melodies(旋律). It's full of drama and laughter. It's full of wonder and life. Opera can be fun to watch, and it allows the audience to experience different cultures. Many people have enjoyed it for hundreds of years, and by following the tips above, you can enjoy it, too. Indeed, opera will change the minds of the people who once hated it. And most importantly, as one of the most diverse art forms out there, opera helps you appreciate different performance styles from all over the world.
6.Why do many people think opera is boring according to the passage
A.Because it is like a TV show. B.Because they know little about it.
C.Because they dislike its storylines. D.Because its music style is old-fashioned.
7.Which is a good way for beginners to enjoy opera
A.To start with a long opera. B.To learn to perform in an opera.
C.To master an opera language. D.To get familiar with an opera's story.
8.What do many famous operas have in common with popular movies and best-selling novels
A.They have the same writer. B.They share a similar story.
C.They teach people about lifestyles. D.They help people keep an open mind.
9.What does the underlined word "diverse" in the last paragraph probably mean
A.Various. B.Humorous. C.Original. D.Exciting.
D
When we're in need, we always turn to our parents for help. But would you like them to hear the conversations you have with your friends on the school playground or lunch queue Social networking sites have become extensions(延伸) of the school hallways, so would you add your parents as "friends" and allow them to view your online activities and conversations with friends
In the past the generation gap included a technology gap, where children were up to date with the latest technology and parents were left behind, content to continue their day-to-day lives as they always had because they had no need to know more about technology. However, more and more parents are beginning to realize just how important social networks are in their lives. This realization has given many parents the motivation to educate themselves about social networking sites.
These days many people are attracted to social networking sites because they can choose who they have around them; there's also a certain amount of control over privacy (隐私) that we don't get in real life. Sometimes we feel that privacy is violated when we must accept a "friend" request from a parent or family member.
It's a difficult choice whether or not to allow a parent to become a part of our online lives. On the one hand, we don't want to "reject" their requests because that might hurt their feelings or make them feel you have something to hide. On the other hand, if you do accept, then you could have a sense of being watched and no longer feel free to comment or communicate the way you did before.
A recent survey suggested that parents shouldn't take it personally if their children overlook their requests. When a teenager overlooks a parent's friend request, it doesn't necessarily mean that he/she is hiding something, but it could mean that this is one part of his/her life where he/she wants to be independent.
Perhaps talking with parents and explaining would help soften the blow if you do choose not to add them to your friend list.
1.What is the passage mainly about
A.Privacy online. B.Parents' friend requests.
C.The generation gap. D.Social networks.
2.What can we infer from Paragraph 2
A.Parents have realized the importance of social networks.
B.Parents feel secure about their privacy online.
C.Social networks successfully fill the generation gap.
D.Social networks offer a platform for parents to communicate.
3.What may be the reason for teenagers to refuse a parent's friend request
A.Their parents make negative comments on them.
B.They hide something from their parents.
C.They are unwilling to be watched by parents.
D.Their parents tend to fall behind in technology.
4.Who are the passage mainly written for
A.Parents. B.Teachers. C.Researchers. D.Teenagers.

Peter woke up early in the morning. He went downstairs in a hurry and started to have his breakfast as quickly as possible.
“Why are you in such a hurry, early bird " Mum asked him. “We will have an English spelling test today, Mum," Peter said. “Mr. White promised to offer prizes to those who get 100 scores. I've been studying the word list since last week. Although the words are difficult, I am well prepared for them.”
Peter reviewed the spelling of each word once more carefully when Dad drove down.
Thirty words later, the test papers were collected by Mr. White. “I am to mark your papers now," he told the class. After marking the test papers, Mr. White said, “Three of you won a prize today for excellent test scores. Peter. David and Mary got 100 percent on the spelling test!" Mr. White praised them. Meanwhile, he gave the three students each a dictionary. Peter's was an English-Chinese dictionary—the one he liked best. Peter was so excited that he held it high when his classmates cheered. "This is my happiest moment,” Peter thought.
After Mr. White gave the test paper back, Peter had a look at the words, feeling proud of his spelling. All of a sudden, the word “contribution" confused him. It didn't seem right. Peter began to compare them after taking out the wordlist. “C-o-n-t-r-i-b-u-s-i-o-n,”he whispered. He had spelled it wrong.
“What am I to do ” Peter said to himself. “I expect my classmates to think I'm a master in spelling. If I tell Mr. White one of my spelling words is wrong, I'll have to give my prize back, or I will become an example for telling a lie". Staring at the red sign “100%” which was written at his test paper, Peter was lost in thought. After a while, he remembered a lesson Mum used to teach him, “We ought to be an honest person.”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Slowly, Peter raised his hand.

A
故选A。
Perhaps pleasure and laughter in the animal world will help solve the depression in our own species one day." our own species"在此处指人类,故选B。
More studies are needed to really understand animals' laughter."
B
答案:ABDA
1.答案:A
根据第一段的第三句“You can even...your videos.” 故选A。
根据第四段的第二句“Some students spend...not enough time studying.”
由画线词所在的句子“Some videos have the vulgar content that is not good for teenagers.”
4.答案:A
故选A。
C
答案:BDBA
根据文章第一段前三句“Many people think...actually seeing one.” 再结合第一段中作者的想法“If one takes opera seriously, with an open heart, and goes to several good live performances, I don't see any reason why he or she would dislike or hate it.”
根据文章第二段中的“Moreover, before going to a performance, do a little bit of homework: learn the story of the opera. If...on the stage.”
4.答案:A
A. 故选A。
D
BACD
Social networking sites have become extensions of the school hallways, so would you add your parents as 'friends' and allow them to view your online activities and conversations with friends "可知,本文主要介绍的是年轻人如何对待父母申请加为好友的请求。
However, more and more parents are beginning to realize just how important social networks are in their lives. This realization has given many parents the motivation to educate themselves about social networking sites."
On the other hand, if you do accept, then you could have a sense of being watched and no longer feel free to comment or communicate the way you did before."

根据下文的who you're speaking to... If speaking to a charity group... If speaking at a business conference可知这一段主要讲了要在演讲中提到你的听众,故选C。
Pick one person in each section and look at him while you're speaking.

9.答案:A

A.否则;B.因此;C.然而;D.此外。故选B。

根据句意可知艺术展将要举办,且an art exhibition与hold之间是被动关系,故填to be held。
share sth. with sb. 故填with。
故填it。
故填more convenient。
故用which。
be experienced in在方面有经验。
