Key points:

2. “s”在清辅音和浊辅音里发音的不同以及/s/和/t/, /d/在一起时的发音。
Difficult points:
used to肯定和否定形式的运用及转换,didn’t use to do sth.容易写成didn’t used to do sth.。

Lead in:
1. Get students ready for learning.
2. Organize students to review what they have studied in Section A.
3. Show a person’s two different hobbies, present the short dialog:
watch movies/listen to music
What’s your hobby
I used to watch movies, but now I like listening to music.
4. Explain the meaning of “used to do sth.”.
Presentation:
1. Take out a stamp collection, some coins and a doll. Teach the new words: coin, doll … by showing them and drawing them on the blackboard.
2. Introduce the teacher’s own hobby.
e.g. I like collecting coins now, but 2 years ago I liked collecting stamps. I can also say I used to collect stamps.
3. Write “I used to collect stamps, but now I enjoy collecting coins.” and repeat it.
4. Give students some minutes to practice. Talk about your hobbies in groups with the following expressions given in part 3.
Examples:
A: I used to enjoy pop music, but now I don’t like it. I love playing sports.
B: I didn’t use to go shopping, but now I like it.
5. Then choose some pairs to perform the dialogue.
6. Play Part 2. Tell students that they should pay more attention to the collections. Give some tips before students listen.
7. Practice with your partner and give a report in class:

Consolidation:
1. Finish 1b. Teacher plays the recording of 1a. Check the answers.
2. Ask students to read 1a carefully and finish 1c. Check the answers in groups.
3. Watch the flash of 1a, ask students to repeat.

5. Learn some language points in this class.
Practice:
1. Read the words in 4a correctly. Teacher offers 2 or 3 minutes for the students to pronounce all the words.

Presentation:
1. Ask students to look at the blackboard and read these key points that they find together.
2. Teacher sums up the key points.
3. Ask each group to make a dialogue using the key points on the blackboard. Walk around the classroom, helping them if necessary.
4. Show the pictures and review how to talk about hobbies:

5. Review the phrases:

6. Ask students to make sentences by using the phrases.
Consolidation:
1. Ask students to finish Grammar and Functions, check their answers.
2. Ask students to study them carefully. Read aloud the sentences in Grammar and Functions.
3. Listen to the passage in Part 1 and mark True or False.
4. Ask students to read Part 1 carefully. Fill in the blanks. Remind students to look at the table carefully. We can find some information from the table.
5. Check the answers and ask students to retell the passage according to the table.
Practice:
1. Finish 2. Show some pictures on the screen. Let students discuss what pet they like.

Presentation:
1. Finish 2. Ask students to fill in the blanks in 2 according to the pictures. Then play the recording of 2.
2. Write down “like/ be fond of/ be interested in/ enjoy/ prefer” on the blackboard.
3. Ask students to study 2 carefully and summarize the usage of “like/ be fond of/ be interested in/ enjoy/ prefer”. Teach “recite” by showing the picture and the examples.
4. Teacher explains some key points and difficult points to the students:
(1) The structure of “like/ be fond of/ be interested in/ enjoy/ prefer + doing”
(2) The key sentences “What’s your hobby ” “My hobby is reading.”
Then give students some exercises to check whether they have mastered them.
5. Ask students to pay attention to the structures. Guess the meanings of “collect” and “plant” according to the pictures in 3a. Match the pictures with the phrases.
6. Play 3a. Listen to the sentences and number the pictures. Pay attention to the pronunciation.
7. Work in pairs and practice:

8. Organize the students to play a game. The group leader speaks out a sentence using “love/prefer/be fond of ...” and the activities in 3a.
Other group members speak out the sentences with the same meaning. The group which can speak more sentences will win.
9. Ask students “What are Helen and Wen Wei’s hobbies ” (Tell students previewing is very important.)
10. Play the recording of 1a and lets students find out the answer.
11. Finish 1b and check the answers.
12. Encourage students to look at the pictures in 1c and try to check the phrases according to the pictures.
13. Play 1a again and ask students to write H for Helen’s hobbies, W for Wen Wei’s.
14. Play 1a for the third time, and ask students to write down the phrases in 1c.
Consolidation:
1. Finish 1d. Ask students to read 1a and fill in the blanks.
2. Check the answers in 1d.
Practice:
1. Watch the flash of 1a ask students to repeat.
2. Practice in pairs.
