教材分析 本单元的教学内容是第七模块中的第二单元,本单元所提供的文本是关于马克.吐温所著的《汤姆.索亚历险记》的一篇书评,主要内容是通过背景知识,主要人物的介绍,高潮部分的描述以及本书的主题,语言特征,人们对于该作品的评价来展开描述的,本文的主要目的是吸引读者,让学生通过阅读本文,对这本书有一个基本的了解,了解这本书的意义和影响。借助本文的学习,让学生知道选择一本书的渠道可以通过书评来决定,鼓励学生用本文的框架来写一篇关于自己喜欢的一本书的书评,激发学生的分享欲。
学情分析 学生对于马克.吐温的《汤姆.索亚历险记》在前面的学习中稍有提及,但内容尚未深入了解到,九年级的学生对于故事的发展是十分好奇的。此外,通过本文的学习,让学生了解到如何通过书评来选择阅读内容,提高阅读的有效性,通过本文最后一段的内容,进一步巩固被动语态的用法。
教学目标 Linguistic ability: To understand the key words and the structure of Passive Voice. Learning capacity: To be able to understand English texts through the reading skills of slimming and scanning. To be able to talk about experiences and feelings. To be able to read between lines and analyze the personal traits of main characters. Thinking quality: To learn good qualities from Tom Sawyer. Cultural awareness: To learn to appreciate great books by foreign writers and Chinese writers.
教学重难点 Key points: 1. Key vocabulary-adventure, adventurous, get into trouble, run away, escape, dead for a time. neighbour/neighbor, funeral, surprised, alive, southern, state, pay for, action, everyday, dialogue 2. Key structures-It is written in everyday English. It is still read and loved by people all over the world. It is thought to be one of greatest American stories. Difficult points: 1. Understand the change of Tom's feelings. 2. Write a book review.

Step 1: Pre-reading Ask students “What great books you have ever read ” Guide Ss to make a survey: How do you choose a book Let them enjoy a video and learn some new words. Step 2: Fast reading 1.Guide students to read the whole passage quickly and find out the main idea. 2.Ask students to match the main idea of each paragraph. Step 3: Careful reading Read Para 1 and complete the table about he background information form when/where/what. Read Para 2 Let the students find out the main characters. Guide Ss underline the key phrases based on the pictures, and let them tell the story according to the pictures. Read Para 3 Guide the students to complete the table. Ask them why their feelings changed Read Para 4 Ask students to read and fill in the blanks about the feature, theme, and comments about this book. Step 4: Post-reading Let students summarize how the writer writes the book review Think about the question: What can you learn from Tom sawyer Discuss and say: Share your favourite book according to the mind map. 1.Talk about the books they have read. 2.Do a survey about how to choose a book. 3. Watch a video and read the wors loudly. Read the passage quickly and get the main idea. Read and match the main idea for each paragraph. Read and complete the table. Find out the main characters. Underline the key phrases based on the pictures and tell the story. Read and find how Tom & Huck, Family and neighbors felt before and after the funeral. Fill in the blanks and find out the grammar features. Figure out how to write a book review. Think and show plete the mind map and share the book review of their favourite book.
作 业 设 计 Finish the exercise in page 59. Choose one of the four parts of the book review to write about your favorite books. Read the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer then share it next time.
