Lesson43 A Visit to Chinatown
一、语篇研读 (一级标题黑体小四)
本课是九年级冀教版的第八单元第一课,以“参观中国城”为题,首先通过布莱恩、珍妮和李明的对话引出话题,讨论中国城的食物,购物街,接着以李明对春节的介绍来结束文章。
通过不同地区的节日和文化,让学生对中西方文化差异有一个更好地理解 ,为学生语言学习提供了真实的交际情境。同时也给学生带来了新奇的语言感受,不同的文化洗礼,激发了学生对新鲜事物的好奇心和对英语学习的兴趣。
本课主要让学生了解“中国城”,以及文化的传播,学习状语从句这一语法结构。通过本文的学习,让学生学出关于自己最喜欢的节日的小短文。说出中外不同的文化差异(正文宋体小四,行间距22)
二、教学目标
通过本课的学习,学生能够:
1.通过展示图片和视频,让学生了解中国城的文化和特点,
2.帮助学生了解和掌握一些与中国城相关的词汇和短语。
3.鼓励学生在小组中讨论并分享关于中国城的文化和体验。
4.提高学生的听力和口语技能,让他们能够用英语描述他们对中国城的感受和印象。
三、教学过程(依据教学目标设计教学活动)
【教学目标】1.获取对话中谈到的中国城的文化和特点,包括相关的词汇和短语,以及在小组中讨论并分享关于中国城的文化,完成本课的学习。(学习理解)
【教学活动】Step1: Greetings and warm up
T: Nowadays, many Chinese people live in foreign countries. The place they live is usually called Chinatown. So let’s see what Chinatown is like. Today let’s learn Lesson43 A Visit to Chinatown.
Step2: Presentation
Present the new words:
Chinatown bowl chopstick spoon fork underground lantern dragon Santa Claus temple decoration
The students read these words together. After the reading, let two students do the activity.
Step3: Listening & Reading
a. Let the students watch the video about the dialogue and then do the exercise(T/F)
b. Let the students watch the video again and then do the exercise(Fill in the blanks)
Do the exercise about different utensils.
c. Let the students read the dialogue for four minutes (there are 279 words in total), then answer the three questions.
d. Let the students do the role-play in groups (group work), and then do the exercise.
The exercise is made up of five different questions.
e. Read silently and then fill in the blanks of the passage. 、Step4: Thinking
(设计意图:将前面点明的三个方面的中西方文化差异以思维导图的形式总结下来,指出“文化塑造我们”这一单元主题。)
Step5: Production (Project)
The teacher ask the two questions to show the celebrations of the Spring Festival:
“Which is the most important festival in China ”
“How do Chinese people celebrate the Spring Festival ”
The students answer the second question according to the pictures, and then add some facts.
As for the Christmas, the teacher asks,“What is the most important festival in western countries ” “How do Western people celebrate Christmas ”
Show the PPT, let students do the project.
1. Do a project about cultural differences between the Spring Festival and Christmas.
Group 1: Find the facts about the Spring Festival and add more.
Group 2: Find the facts about Christmas and add more.
2. Discuss about the same things.
Students can get more information with the facts and find out the cultural differences and the same points.
【效果评价】师将对话改编为短文,使学生在充分理解文章的基础上填空,以此来训练学生的思维能力。进而将前面点明的三个方面的中西方文化差异以思维导图的形式总结下来,指出“文化塑造我们”这一单元主题
【设计意图】让学生以小组的形式分角色朗读课文,在充分理解本课内容的基础上,做图片中的五个小题,再一次与中考题型中的任务型阅读题型靠拢,由第一小题点明“不同的语言”这一中西方文化差异,而第五小题则是对宾语从句以及强调句型的考查。)。(感知与注意、获取与梳理)
