Lesson 59 Keep Your Choices Open
一、语篇研读
What:提供了大量有关职业的名词,为我们揭示了将来获取更多选择的方式是教育。
Why:本课是一首歌曲,分为了歌曲和dig in两个部分。
How:帮助学生丰富学习相关词汇的学习策略,从而突出了接受教育对实现梦想的重要性,引导学生为了实现理想,形成乐于学习,善于学习和终身学习的观念。
二、教学目标
通过本课的学习,学生能够:
1.Students will be able to use the words: merchant ,do well in school , study hard.
2.Students will know what to do to have more choices.
3.Students will be able to learn the song by listening.
4.Students will be able to get information while listening.
5.Students can guess the meaning of a new word about jobs.
三、教学过程
Step1: Warm up and lead in
-Do you know any graduation songs What are they
同桌的你, 朋友别哭,毕业歌,永远的朋友
-They are graduation songs.
-What other graduation songs do you know
【Students activities】1. Ss listen to the song.
2. Ss repeat the job mentioned in the song.
3.Ss write their dream job on the blackboard.
【Design Intention】1. Lead into this new lesson quickly.
2. Practice students' listening.
Step 2 Listening
Listen and tick the statements that are mentioned.
Education keeps your choices open.
When you grow up, you can be a merchant.
Do well in school, and the decision will be yours.
Study hard, and you will do well.
You may decide to be a professor.
Maybe a police officer is the job for you.
You could be a successful cook.
You could be a successful farmer.
Step3 Reading
1.Read and find out what jobs are in the song.
Ss tell the jobs they hear: pilot, professor, merchant, farmer
-What other jobs can you think of
-actor, singer, teacher,dentist
2.Read and find out similarities
Your education keeps your choices open, this sentence appear three times

There are certain rules for job words. Look at these words:
·farmer, teacher, singer, reporter, printer, waiter, photographer
·professor, director, actor, tailor
·musician, librarian
·artist, chemist, scientist, dentist, biologist Can you guess the meaning of “lawyer”, “inventor”, “politician” and “specialist” Can you find more words ending with “er”, “or”, “ian” or “ist”

1.T:Can you find some similarity in these words?
2.T:Can you list some examples

1. S1:Some of them are ended with -or/-er .

There are so many jobs. What do you want to be in the future And why Make a dialogue.

Step 6 Languages points
Teacher explore the language points:
decision 决定
e.g. It was a sudden decision.
make a decision 下决心,下决定。
e.g. At last, she made a difficult decision.
2. keep
You want to keep your choices open.
你想扩大你的择业面。
keep是一个具有多种意义的词,它的主要用法如下:
a. keep (sb) doing sth,表示一直在做某事.
Kate keeps looking out of the window.
凯特一直看着窗外。
b. keep+宾语, 表示 “保存”, “借”的意思时, 常用此句型。
You can keep it. I don’t need it any more. 你留着吧,我不再需要它了。
c. keep sb/sth+形容词,这一结构主要表示“保持某一状态”。
Keep quiet, please! 请保持安静!
3.Do well in school, and the decision will be yours!
祈使句+ and +陈述句
该句型中and前的祈使句表示“条件”,相当于if引导的条件句;and后的陈述句表示结果,常用一般将来时。
e.g. Take more exercise and you’ll feel better.
=If you take more exercise, you’ll feel better.
多锻炼,你将会感觉更好。
祈使句+or+陈述句”结构中的祈使句表示条件或假设,or 意为“不然的话,否则”。
Hurry up, or you’ll be late.
=If you don’t hurry up, you’ll be late.
快点,否则你会迟到的。
