Guessing the meaning of a word by its formation.
Study skills
Sometimes a suffix changes a word’s part of speech, but the meaning remains almost the same.(后缀改变词性,不改变词意)
When we read and come across new words, we can sometimes guess their meanings by the way they formed.
The girl is terribly ill. We all feel sad about her illness.
The boy is full of energy every day. He is energetic.
Be careful. You must do everything carefully.
Sometimes two words come together to form a compound word.
Sometimes a prefix changes the meaning of a word.
