German High Schools
In Germany there are different kinds of high schools. Some prepare students for workers, others prepare them for college. All schools are great places for making friends and learning German.21教育网
Short days
Most high schools in Germany begin at about 8:00 am and end at about 3:30 pm. This means your morning will be busy with classes. You will have time to do homework and take part in private (私人的) clubs after school.
Formal setting
In Germany, teachers and students' relationship is more formal than you might be used to. Teachers are respected and students must use the formal "Sie (德语, 您)" when talking to teachers.
Getting to school
Most students take public transport to school or ride a bicycle. Some areas have school buses. It is not common for parents to drive students to school.
Private clubs
In many countries, schools offer official sports and after-school activities. This is less common in Germany. After-school activities are usually organized through private clubs. There are clubs for things like soccer, dance, choir, theatre and almost everything else. Once you are in Germany, ask around at school and talk to other students to find out what private clubs are in your area and meet your interests.

Sleeping Positions Show People's Secret Personalities
Everyone has got two personalities-the one that is shown to the world and the other that is secret and real. You don't show your secret personality when you're awake because you can control yourself, but when you're asleep, your sleeping position shows the real you. In a normal night, of course, you often change your sleeping positions. The important position that best shows your secret personality is the one that you go to sleep.
If you go to sleep on your back, you're a very open person. You normally trust people and you are easily influenced by new ideas. You don't like to make people unhappy, so you never express your real feelings. You're quite shy and you aren't very confident.
If you sleep on your stomach, you are a person who likes to keep secrets. You worry a lot and you're always easily becoming sad. You never want to change your ideas, but you are satisfied with your life the way it is. You usually live for today not for tomorrow.
If you sleep on curled up (蜷缩), you are probably a very nervous person. You have a low opinion of yourself and often protect yourself from being hurt, so you are very defensive. You're shy and you don't usually like meeting people. You like to be on your own.
If you sleep on your side, you have usually got a well-balanced (平衡很好的)personality. You know your strengths and weaknesses. You're usually careful. You have a confident personality. You sometimes feel worried, but you don't often get unhappy. You always say what you think, even if it makes people angry.
1. You may find the passage in _____________.
A. a science magazine B. a guide book
C. a sports newspaper D. a story book

Best Friends Forever
There are two families on Earth who want a baby girl, but there is only one girl waiting to be born. She turns herself into two girls, but each of the girls only has half of a heart. Years later, the two girls meet. When they come together, their hearts beat faster, and they feel complete again.
Do you ever feel like you and your best friend were once the same person, but were split (分裂) before birth? Do you want to spend every minute of every day with her? If you have a really, really good best friend, you might feel like you're incomplete when you are apart. In US middle schools, many girls show their feelings with a best friend's necklace (项链).
The best friend's necklace can take many forms. Usually, it is a heart split in two. It reads "best friends" and each one of the friends wears half of the necklace. Best friends may live far away from one another and not see each other for days or even years at a time. But the two pieces of the heart fit together perfectly when the friends reunite (重逢). If your very best friend is wearing her necklace, she has half of your heart.
Make a best friend's necklace and give one half of it to your best friend. Some girls make their own necklaces out of clay (泥土) or pieces out of jigsaw puzzle (拼图). Alone, the necklace doesn't make a lot of sense. But when your friend is there, and the pieces fit together, everything seems to be complete again.

Kids Know Life's Rules
Most of what I really need to know about how to live, and what to do, and how to be, I learned in kindergarten (幼儿园). 21*cnjy*com
These are the things I learned: Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don't take things that aren't yours. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you eat. Live a balanced life. Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work some every day.
Take a nap (午睡) every afternoon. When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands, and stick together. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed (种子) in the plastic cup. The roots (根)go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
Think of what a better world it would be if we all-the whole world-had cookies and milk at about 3 o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets (毯子) for a nap. Or if we had a basic policy (政策) to always put things back where we found them and clean up our messes. And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.

Test 3
4.C。构成短语not...at all表示“一点也不”的意思。
10.B。“what was wrong”
14.D。构成短语be happy with...(对……
A
1.A.分析“Year 7 students sleep 8.4 hours in a school night,and Year 9 students only 6.9 hours"这句话可以得知:七年级的孩子休息时间比九年级的孩子多。故选A。2-1-c-n-j-y
2.B。从第二段中的最后一句“Scientists suggest nine hours a night for middle school students”可知选B。
2.A。 故选A。
