Thousands of people are in car accidents every year in the United States. Here are things you should do if you are one of these unlucky people.
The most important thing is to stay calm. Call the police and report the accident. If you are in a car accident, try to get the driver's license plate (车牌). If you're hurt, call 911 or ask someone else to do so. If you can move, check on the other people in your car. If your car is safe to drive, pull it to the side of the road.
It is important to call the police so that the police can write a police report. Most insurance companies (保险公司) won't pay for the accident if there isn't a police report.
Be ready to give your right place when you call so that the police can find you easily.
While you are waiting for the police to arrive, take notes of what happened. Write down all the information about the cars or bikes. Write down the names of everyone in the accident. If possible, take pictures of the scene(现场) of the accident.
When the police arrive, tell them what happened and give them all the information you get about the driver of the other car or the cyclists(骑自行车的人).

D. To tell us about the best time to call the police.

From CCTV-1 — the smoggy weather(雾霾天气) appeared in North and East China on Saturday, with highways closed and flights delayed or canceled(取消).
The smoggy weather affected the country's land from the north to the south, including Beijing, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Hunan, Guangxi and Guangdong; in some areas we can't see anything clearly less than 50 meters.
Cities like Shanghai and Nanjing have been covered in the grey sky for the past several days. Many walkers in the street had to wear masks. In the Lukou Airport in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, more than 60 flights were canceled on Saturday because of the haze. Many primary and middle schools and kindergartens stopped their classes on Thursday and Friday in Nanjing.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection said earlier this week that there were several main reasons for the widespread haze: bad weather conditions, motor vehicle exhaust(废气), and coal use for winter heating.
The Chinese government now plans to clean up the air. We are going to cut coal use, close some factories and promote cleaner production. "We must face up to the realities," said Yan Naiqiang, a professor of environmental science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. "The treatment of smog will be a long battle."
( )27.Which city didn't the smoggy weather affect on Saturday
A. Hainan. B. Guangdong.

D. To tell us the writer will mainly discuss the two cities in the passage.
( )29.Which of the following is NOT a reason for the heavy haze
A. Bad weather conditions.
B. Too many flights.
C. Motor vehicle exhaust.
D. Coal use for winter heating.

A. Science. B. Weather. C. Art. D. Sports.

Imagine a perfect day: the weather is good and everything seems fine. When suddenly your mobile phone loses the signal, the television has no programs, and you can't use your computer to surf the Internet.
What has happened These are just the types of problems a solar storm (太阳风暴) might cause.
You may not think solar storms put our society at risk. But today, a solar storm is as serious as other bad events, such as earthquakes.
A solar storm is caused by solar flares (太阳耀斑): large explosions (爆炸) near the sun that can give off lots of energy. Solar flares may destroy (破坏) the satellite systems (卫星系统) that control our computers. High-energy particles(高能粒子) from the solar storm are likely to disrupt(使中断) the global Internet for weeks or months.
In the past few months, scientists have recorded some of the strongest solar storms in years. "History shows that big sunspot(太阳黑子)cycles ‘ramp up(上升)’ faster than small ones. I expect to see the first sunspots of the next cycle appear in late 2006 or 2007 and Solar Max to be underway(进行中的)by 2010 or 2011," said Hathaway.
"Solar flare activity is going to be much worse than what we have seen in the past. We're not talking about a few cities losing power. In fact, it could be half of the country, maybe more, "scientists warned.
Governments around the world are trying to work together before the next solar storm, although they are not sure when that may happen.

To be safe in your everyday life needs knowledge. If you remember the following information your life will be much safer. Always notice the environment (环境) around you. You shouldn't walk alone outside. When you are in public places (公共场所), make sure where the emergency exits (紧急出口) are. If anything dangerous happens, you can find them easily.
Your bag should be carried towards the front of your body instead of putting it on your back. When a bus is filled with people, it's easy enough for a thief to take away the things in the bag on your back.
If you are followed by someone you don't know, cross the street and go to the other way to let the person understand that you know he or she is after you. Next, don't go home at once. You are safer in the street than your are alone in your home or in a lift (电梯).
If you have to take a bus to a place far away, try to get to the stop a few minutes earlier before the bus leaves. This stops thieves from studying you. On the bus, don't sit alone. Sit behind the driver or with other people. Don't sleep.

How to protect ourselves in the fire
If a fire happens when we are in the room, what should we do First, we should keep calm. Don't be afraid. Call 119 or open the windows to cry for help. Second, we should find water to make our clothes wet. Cover our mouth and nose with them. We shouldn't let fire burn our clothes. Third, if the light goes out, we should try to feel the door and open it. Take the stairs instead of taking the lift and run downstairs. Finally, we shouldn't jump down from the high windows. Luck will be always with us.
