High school entrance exams mainly focus on academic subjects, such as math and Chinese. But by 2022, these exams will also include subjects like music and art.
At a press conference (发布会) held by the Ministry of Education (MOE) on Oct 16, a senior official said that all high school entrance exams should include fine arts testing by 2022. He added that 12 cities in six provinces have started the practice, including Nanjing and Qingdao, with scores varying from 10 to 40 points, Xinhua reported.
This is being done to encourage primary and secondary schools to provide more fine arts classes. They should cover subjects such as music, painting, dance, drama and opera and so on, The Paper noted.
Learning about the fine arts can help students enjoy the beauty of art, which is good for their mental health, according to the MOE.
However, not everyone agrees. Some parents say that students already have heavy academic stress, and that adding new testing material would make things worse. It was also pointed out that not every student will be talented enough to be good at these subjects.
In response to this, officials of Jiangsu Province said that the tests will be about basic knowledge that comes from the students' textbooks. The additional (额外的) work will not be difficult and shouldn't put too much pressure on students, China Business Herald noted.
▲_____________
The MOE has also asked provincial education authorities to increase the scores on their exams' physical exercise test. The scores should be the same as the exams' Chinese, math and English sections (部分).
The MOE encouraged primary and secondary schools to provide students with at least one PE class a day. Primary and junior high schools should teach students to master two basic sports skills, such as running and jumping.

In 2020, many robots took up jobs, giving both humans and animals a helping hand.
A hospital ward(病房) treating COVID-19 patients in Wuhan, China, was run entirely by robots. The robots looked after patients with the lightest symptoms(症状), delivering food for people who work in hospital and keeping the hospital clean. This reduced the risk of doctors and nurses catching the disease. Meanwhile, a robot called Ginger led a dance class for those who were well enough to take part. If a patient fell more seriously ill, they were sent to a human-run part of the hospital for more treatment.
In May, a robot dog enforced(强制实施) social-distancing rules to stop the spread of coronavirus in Singapore. Spot, made by U. The robotdog was controlled from a distance by a human but may one day be able to work by itself.

Leonardo da Vinci only painted thirteen paintings in his life. (That’s a small number, but each and every one is a treasure(珍宝). ) And three of those thirteen weren’t finished.
The story is that in 1505 a rich silk businessman wanted a portrait (肖像) of his wife. He asked Leonardo to paint it. Leonardo had told friends that he was tired of painting. Her lips are pressed together in a calm half-smile. She looks as if she is keeping a secret. Her eyes are full of mystery, too. They appear to look out at something only she can see.
The Mona Lisa is probably the most famous painting in the world. Why No one can really answer that question. When Leonardo was finished, he decided to keep it. In fact, he kept it with him, wherever he went, for the rest of his life.
